Well, if my previous explanation doesn't work for you, try this one:

Why would Yuna speak to Tidus in the second person? It's obvious that every time you get into her thoughts, she's speaking directly TO him. If I'm looking directly at my friend Matt, I don't say "Is Matt going to eat that?" NO!!! I say "Are you going to eat that?" It's the same thing here. Yuna's speaking to Tidus, so she never needs to say his name.

...besides, it should have been common sense who she was talking about anyway.

HEY! His name is SAID in KH! At the beginning, on Destiny Island. The second day, I believe... Wakka says he and Tidus are going to explore that secret area by the base of a tree (What's the place called? With all the drawings on the rocky walls?). So... In a way, Tidus's name IS said... and pronounced TEE-DUS.

Ah so you noticed it too when wakka was talking about the "Secret place" (i think that is what it is called). Tee Dus sounds so annoying to me.

This is because they are all talking in Harry Potter morse code, for example, dont talk about "You know Who" *Winks*, you see!

Well . . . it's because in the beginning you could name him anything you wanted in FFX, remember? I mean, if you'd chosen the name Bob, it would be weird to have the charachters call him Tidus anyway. I'm pretty sure that few people actually changed his name, but there could be someone out there who did.

But I thought that was kind of stupid. They should have just cut that part out. It made FFX-2 kind of weird. "Could it be HIM I saw on that shpere?" That just doesn't sound right.

Why does there have to just be one reason? Big corporations never really do anything with just one reason in mind. They could have done the "he shalt not be named" stuff for style and decided wth, we'll just make it so you can change his name.

Also, having Yuna talking about it in the little soliloquies gives the sequel much of the feeling of the first game, which, if you remember, was a flashback for the majority of the game. It forges a stylistic bond between the games to go with the continuing storyline.

I just assumed when I got to the end that the game was made to be like Yuna telling Tidus the story after he was resurected. It would only make sense to use the second person in that case.

For those of you who continue to obsess over this, check international baby name books. Tidus can be pronounced both ways.

Hey here's a tip don't get mad over something characters say in a game remember this.

I would say that maybe they dont say his name to give the game more mistery and for you to continue playing.

i always thought because in ffx you could choose tidus's name and re-name him

Yeah, its because maybe some people changed it to another name on FFX like for example "Spike" you know? and they cannot say his actual name because you changed it so yeah, it is what I think though I dont know if it is because of that
