Things you could have lived without in FFVIII

I know everybody could name a few things they could have lived without in this game. Final Fantasy VIII is definitely my favorite game in the series but there are still things that bothered or annoyed me at some stages of the game. I started playing the game again today because I just felt like it and one of the things that annoyed me was the tutorials Quistis explains to you before going to fight Ifrit. Sure, it's fine and dandy when you play the game for the first time but three or four times later it gets boring. It feels as though it takes years when she talks about junctioning and such.

She explains about two or three different things which makes things worse. I usually just keep my finger on the 'X' button to skip it as fast as I can. I wish they could have allowed us to just skip the whole tutorial if we already know what to do instead of falling asleep.

What else is there? I believe the fight with the X-ATM092 was long and boring. Once again it was great when you first played the game but for me now it's not fun. I really do like watching the FMV after it so I suppose it is worth it in the end. Having to keep running away from that guy is a bit of a nuisance. Plus if you accidentally run into him again, you have to fight him an extra time.

If I remembered correctly you could just press Triangle and skip the tutorials.

There was not much that really annoyed me which is probably why I liked it so much. I had a bit of trouble getting all the cards but it was because of the way you play it, if I were to go through it again I would leave all the small cards to the end and try and stop some of the rules from spreading all over the place.

Also when you go to get Eden I found it rather tedious than Encounter-None didn't work, mind you it kind of added to the challenge I guess.

Hahaha, I wish I would have known that sooner! I had no idea what so ever. All this time I had to keep pressing X. Thank you for letting me know! I feel stupid now.

There wasn't much that bothered me either but I did think of another one before that I would like to post. That damn White SeeD ship. I don't know how long it took me to find it each time I've played it but it certainly took ages. I had to resort to looking online to find the blasted thing. I was searching around small islands for about two hours at least. I was very frustrated by the end of it! I know some other people who had troubles finding it too but I managed in the end. Thank goodness.

I have to remember where it is in future!

I really disliked that before the last fight, you have to get your magic and whatnot back. It made it more difficult, which I like, but it was still frustrating fighting bosses without being able to use all of your hard-earned junctions and such.

Apart from the explainations and tuturials like Fluffy Chocobo mentioned, I would have say the guardian force "Diablos". Don't get me wrong, he's awesome but I really didn't find him much help compared to the other GF's in the game. As the game progresses on, I felt that you really couldn't use him that much in battle.

Other then that, there weren't that much things that annoyed me as well.

Yeah, i guess that finding the white ship was also oneof my long frustrating things. I was searching the reefs of islands non-stop for hours until i finally found the blasted thing.

Secondly, the whole maze of esther was soo annoyig considering how you had to find your way into the lunatic pandora in a certain time limit.

Lastly, finding the ragnarok in the latter stages of the games. I remember travelling a malboro filled forest, then trying to find chocobo forest, and then moving alond shallow water for hours until i found that ship. Took time especially on first play...

Yes! That Esthar thing was difficult for me, I think I managed the last time I played it. It's very confusing and you have no idea where you're going but still, I didn't mind it.

The Guardian Force clips get a little boring after watching them 6000 times lol. I wish you could turn that off like you can in FFX. It would make the battle shorter and more entertaining. It is nice to watch some of the GF clips but some of them get VERY old after a while.

I'm glad I'm not the only one here who had problems finding the White SeeD ship. I am really not looking forward to finding it again! I forget where it was.

Everybody already said all the annoying stuff. There were some things in Final Fantasy VIII that I thought were annoying also. First I also didn't like finding the White Seed ship. It really was hard to find. Another thing that was irritating was Catching Lunatic Pandora. It took me many tries to do that. That was super hard. Finally I didn't like how you fought Ultramercia with everyone and she took some people out of the battle. I would have rather just fought with three people that were already really strong. That was one of the only reasons why she was hard.

I may end up in the minority here, but after playing throught the first disc of FFVIII... I hate the card game! It seems that I can never do better than a draw. That, and now I've lost my Ifrit and Diablos cards

Yeah, losing GF cards can really suck. I always save my game before I play against somebody in a card game, that way if I lose.. I can go back to that save and start again. Once you lose a GF card, it can be very difficult to get back again. I'm not that great at the card game either but I keep getting better at it, just keep practicing and you'll get there!

I was lucky with the Ultimecia/Griever battle. I got my three strongest characters. It is very frustrating when you end up with the characters you don't want. I would just reset it and play that part again then hope you get the characters you want.

I can't think of any other annoyances in the game. If I do, I will make sure to post them. There aren't too many annoying parts though, just a few. ^_^
