I'm sure the critics would hate it, probably saying "The ending was a mess of uncontrolled ideas and plot holes, raising more questions than it could possibly answer" or "The main character seemed wooden and hard to connect with, he also seemed only to have one expression which looked as if he was squeezing a zit between his narrow eyes." But I would watch it and love it and probably by it on DVD.

I doubt they'll make a movie for VIII. I mean, VII has an amazing storyline, and as said before a huge fan base. I'm sure a movie for VIII would be interesting, but I personally would find it boring.

I actually would like to see a movie for IX or X, even though I know one for VIII would be way more likely to happen. I just don't think that the plot was all that interesting though.

i completly agree final fantasy 8 had a full solid and complete story theres no need for a movie but a movie would be good hehehe.
I aslo agree that a movie for final fantasy 9 would be very good a movie like necron returns to destroy the planet and zidane finds his hidden powers and together with his friends they defrat him again and for good .

That was corny dude, a very bad corny.

Anyway, as I said before it would be really hard to build an FF8 movie or well...any FF movie because they pretty much had everything end so easily. But if they really wanted to do it I'd say they would NOT bring back any old villains and definitely not base it on Seifer. If anything they got two options. One would be if Ultima had a witch-in-training but with a different motive than just taking over the world or destroying it. The second would be if they did the new generation thing and string it along to my first option. Either way there isn't too many things they can pair together to make it interesting.

If there is anything I would suggest to them is make a movie based on EVERY frichen FF out there and forge the worlds together. Sort of like Kingdom Hearts but without the childish Disney add-on. Oh and no Aeris coming back to life, lol.

A PS3 remake is the only bit of the FF8 world I need to complete an amazing FF experience.
I would prefer a PS3 remake for FF6, but that's a topic for another day.

Either way, a movie would be kinda stupid, you can't really add anything to the FF8 world without ruining the experience.

Worse Case Scenario (The Possible plot for FFVIII-2): Selphie, Quistis, and Rinoa become sphere hunters and the destruction of the franchise lies in their hands.

I don't think they will because ff8 isn't as popular as ff7. If a film was made about ff8 it wouldn't be as popular as any films continued from ff7. I think it would be a great idea and I would certainly buy it if it came out, but I don't think it will happen.

Well, the biggest topic in this post would be that FF VIII, unlike FF VII, answered all questions and a few questions that weren't even asked. How 'bout this: If they made a movie, they could do the everyday life. Maybe a little soap opera with Rinoa and Squall, Comedy with Zell, action all around. Just an idea. (PS: These are great ideas for anyone with skill in the art of Flash Animation )

I don't think they should make a movie. In fact they just need to stop making movies in general. In my opinion, both FF movies sucked. No offense to anyone, I don't want to be attacked for that statement. In my opinion, even though it tells you the next part of the story, FF7 AC was still way too dry.

i for one hope that they will make a cgi movie of ff8 cause it was cool what they did with ff7 ac. i also loved ff8 with the simple graphics. thats why im hoping for a movie of ff8 to enjoy more watching the story told again. ^^

i say they should but a movie of the game i cant see any plot lines coming from the end of 8 they should also do a movie of the game of 7 wich would be good id deffinatly get copies of the two watch at cinema etc id do that with any ff movie though

Yeah, that's true about Final Fantasy VIII not being as popular. I don't think they should though overall. What are they going to make it about? The game ended perfectly and there aren't really any story lines to write about. If they did a movie based on the game, that would be alright but it may ruin the game for me. I wouldn't ever want that to happen. I honestly think a movie won't be made for this game but who knows, anything can happen. If they do, I will most likely get it.

It wouldn't be impossible to make a movie or a sequel out of Final Fantasy VIII. I actually would argue the fact about why the hell would they bring back a 10 year old game, but they did already, so thats a non-issue. The ending of Final Fantasy VIII was never really explained. All we know is that Rinoa and Squall are together and Edea's not a sorceress. Its all about how you interpret the ending. People forget what hasn't been answered or addressed, so the sequel could be open ended as hell. Here is just a few sample questions:

-Is Rinoa still a Sorceress? Does she posess her old powers?

-What about Siefer? Was he posessed? Or did he act on his own free will?

-What about Garden? Whats Garden going to do? Is the Sorceress threat truly eliminated?

-What about Galabadia? Aren't they still agressive towards Garden? The conflict never was brought to a close. It sort of ended with the game. We never really saw what would have settled the conflict.

-What about Esther? Whats Presidant Laguna doing now? We know he visits his wife's grave. Does Squall know about his past? What is his past?

Those and hundreds more i could throw at you for potenial sequels. Seeing the ending myself; it is the most loose ending I have ever seen. There were more loose threads in it than in my Yuna costume, and believe me there were tons. This spells out sequel or movie. And now I'm not doubting one is in the idea box, I'm doubting they want to put the money into it. And next year is FF8s 10 year anniversity. So I've seen the ending and I'm completely convinced that a movie or sequel could be made, they just don't want to make one.

They should've done more with Final Fantasy 8. I wouldn't want to see a ton of compilations on it, like they're doing with Final Fantasy 7, but I'd at least like to see a sequel and Anime. Maybe if a lot of FF8 fans wrote to them about it, it'd convince them? They probably get enough of that already, though.

Interestingly enough, Squaresoft had higher hopes for FFVIII than they did with FFVII. In fact, they said FFVII was just warm up to get some practice to create FFVIII.
However, FFVII was still the most popular of the two (of all three PS FFs, even).

I wouldn't mind seeing a movie, remake, or sequal/prequal to this game, though. It is pretty good.

As much as I love Final Fantasy 8(it IS my favorite final fantasy) I just wouldn't want to see them make a movie of it. I'd rather see a remake of the game, if anything. The remake of the game would definitely have to come before a movie if they ever made one.
