He probably is or not. Either way it isn't a big deal. I think square-enix was trying to make the gay reference a joke because a lot of people in japan find it humorous for gay jokes. It's also in a lot of anime. OR it may attract a lot of yaoi fans in japan. I heard that japanese girls love yaoi.

I have 2 reasons why Zell is gay, even in the American version.
1) The hot dog obsession. What does a hot dog look like? If you don't get the hint, use your imagination

2) The sudden 'drop-to-the-ground-and-rub-Squall's-legs' act. From certain angles, it looks like he's giving him 'head'.

Anyway, I think he's too bad-ass and hott to be gay, no matter what they say (or show!)

Seriously though, why would you think he's gay? I suppose it is possible but I wouldn't think he was. He's only a computer game character after all! I don't think he even has a sexuality! In the game he had an interest with the girl in the library so I am guessing he's not. He's too masculine in my opinion. If you're really desperate to know, why don't you call up Square-Enix and ask them about it.

If I remember Zell had a crush on Selphie or was it Rinoa? I forget, but I don't remember Zell doing any gay like things during the game lol. Well what about that time at the desert Prison when Squall saved him lol that was funny. I see alot of sites that sell him as Yaoi which I am not sure why, ( He does look striaght in the game ) and would'nt his bedroom have sexual explict materials around? Zell is indeed a mystery but if he is gay, he's gay, that does'nt make him no different then the Zell we all know. He's still a kickass character in my book

Gay and or " Homosexual " are just names or labels people classifly other people as who like the same sex. There's nothing wrong with loving someone of the same sex, and like others will tell you, " You can't help who you fall in love with. " I mean its not like we are forced to love the opposite sex, must human beings ( mostly us guys ) feel like we have to act a certain way or be with women or others will make fun of us, and think your soft. Theres nothing wrong with that. Who gives a crap what others may perceive you as, as long as you have a kind and loving heart and soul the words of others become meaningless Now as for Zell, as I stated in another post Zell is one of the best guys in all of the FF games, and if he's gay, he's gay, it shouldn't matter if you are a First class Zell fan as Aiseline said.

Thank you! Haha, even though this is my first post and I have yet to introduce myself properly, I feel the need to jump into this discussion. First of all, let me point out that many of you are closed minded, which upsets me. If the original japanese version wanted Zell to be gay, then he's gay. Are you all upset now that a homosexual can brawl like no one's business? People need to come out from the rocks they live under and experience the world. Most of your interactions with homosexuals most commonly come from media, such as television and movies, where the common idea is a fairy-esque girly boy. "That's unlike Zell, he's too strong" is what I've been reading in these posts. Just because a "gay" may not fit into the archetype you've all created in your minds, does not mean they suddenly can not be a certain way.
