If I remember right they only came out in Japan. Hmm but maybe not. I remember there was something about Chocobo's that integrated with the game. Sorta like a minigame.

Yeah the Pocketstation was some like 4 or 8 bit handheld portable that was made I think almost specifically for the FFVIII game, I really cannot say. But they had a seperate game Chocobo World, where you gain items that were rare in the main game. Unfortunately as Zell said it was for Japan only and probably quite rare, it was not very popular I think. If it had been, the US might have seen it. But for an accessory for one game seems like quite the length to go.

It is not required to finish the game, but if you are wanting one, you will probably need a Japanese PSone to start or a mod your PSone to accept Japanese region product. And need the Chocobo World game, which I do not know if it came seperate from the Pocketstation or not.

I'm pretty sure the PC version of FFVIII had the Pocket Station built in so to speak.

I'm sure you could play the Chocobo World mini game on the PC version anyway.

I dont have the Pc version and i didnt know there was a pc version of final fantasy VIII

Yeah, FFVII and FFVIII came out for the PC as well as PSOne, and the Pocket Station minigame of "Chocobo World" was integrated with the game on the PC. It didn't serve much purpose, you could only gain an extra item or two that you'd get anyway.

Saga Frontier 2 and a ton of other SquareSoft games had mini games on the pocketstation, and other games did too..

Ive only seen a pocketstation once in real life.

The Pocketstation is similar the the Dramcasts GU thing that was on some memory cards..

It was made only in Japan and can be used to play a chicobo mini game. I wouldnt realy worry about it if I was you.

I know about only two games released in Europe that supported PocketStation - Final Fantasy VIII and Street Fighter Alpha 3. I do not know about any others. Since one of these two games is an FF game, I find it a great shame that PocketStation was never available on the European market. Just because of the Chocobo world, I would buy one. But that never happened.

This is the nearest thing to a pocketstation you can buy, in England anyway. It's a CD that holds 70 games from the pocketstation that you can play on the PS1 or 2.
