What do I not like about Final Fantasy VIII?

Is that if you leave the game to go eat for an hour, and come back...
You see the Game Over screen.
Now I go AFC (away from controller) a lot so I die too much. I have to save every now and then just to keep it up.
Who else thinks this is strange?

Why don't you finish a battle before you leave? That would be the most logical thing to do. Or just escape from battle. If it was a boss battle, just finish it. Or just PAUSE it just like the previous post says. I have to admit, it's happened to me because my Mum called me and I forgot to pause it, a few minutes later and I notice that my party is dead! I just pause it before I go somewhere.

Yea, that's not a very good reason. You can pause anywhere in the game except moments where people are talking about things you should probably be reading.

In which case, you can usually just leave it on it and it would be as good as pausing since you need to press the confirm button to make it go on.

Unless it's one of the few times where it does it automatically like on the Ragnarok bridge.

Wow, that's the most pathetic reason I've ever seen to not like a video game. I've left my game on pause all night once and it was fine when I woke up. Seriously, I'm sure you can find a better reason not to like this game. Damn you're one hell of a noob.

Never ever happened to me. I left it on to play something else and it still worked fine. i agree with griffith, what a horrible reason to not like it.

I know it may be frustrating to find that your game has been ended because you forgot to pause during a battle or whatever. You can't really hate the game because you lost though. It wasn't the game's fault that you suddenly decided to leave the playstation and do something. Naturally the enemy is going to kill you because it attacks randomly, it doesn't wait like in FFX. All games are different. The same thing happened to me but I didn't decide to hate it. It's just there, you can't do anything about it...unless you pause of course! That's a good way to fix the problem. You might not hate it so much then!

There's things that people don't like about certain games but it doesn't lead them to dislike the game overall. VIII has a really nice storyline and a great cast of characters, surely you don't dislike them!

Well anyways, I hope you have been enjoying the game besides that.

From what I read, Tiki didn't say she didn't like the game...the thread's name is "What i don't like at this game", not "I don't like this game".

Reading the title you could understand many things...maybe Tiki just doesn't like the battle system or something...but don't call people noobs just for that.

Leaving this aside, FF8 was a dissapointment for me...the storyline was weird, most characters weren't deep enough (I don't meen Squall/Seifer/Rinoa, but think of the rest...), the battle system sucks, the world map lacks towns (which are too small anyway...except for Deling city), side quests are boring and my general impression on this game is that it was made in a hurry...

Recently (about 2 months ago) I played ff6 (for my first time) and personally I enjoyed more than ff8...I guess that says a lot
