Hands down, "Love Grows" is the most beautiful thing Nobuo Uematsu has ever written. Ever.
And I dunno what everybody's beef with the battle music is! It's ****ing awesome! FFVIII's battle music is the best of series...eh...okay, it's tied with VII's. But, yeah. Also, "Liberi Fatali" is bad-ass. In a "robot-dinosaur-on-fire-in-space" bad-ass kinda way.

I like the music that plays in the commencement room (you know the room at the start of disc four with loads of fake save points in it).
But best of all i love the whole batch of music that plays throughout the final battle scenes starting with griever (i think that piece is called "maybe i'm a lion") right the way through to the end of the Ultimecia battle. Those tunes just set the mood perfectly. Love it! |

Ami's character theme - that's what the midi file You can download here says.
If I'm right, it plays during the scene in Trabia Garden, when Irvine makes everyone remember their times in the Lighthouse orphanage. If I'm wrong, it doesn't matter- I still love the tune.

I have some that I liked and here it is based in order:
Liberi Fatali The Landing Force Your Way Shuffle or Boogie The Mission Premonition Retaliation Movin Silence and Motion Residents Ride On Compression of Time The Castle The Legendary Beast Maybe I'm a Lion The Extreme Ending Theme Overture I liked most of the songs in here overall though. It sounds really good and I would have to say my favorite one of all is "Eyes on me." It sounded really soothing and it was really good.

The balamb garden music is so comforting and peaceful that it has to be my fave. I have the victory jingle as my mobile ringtone (a la FF7AC) so thats quite cool. But for sheer scene setting the best peice of music is the one that plays in the commencement room in Ultimecia's castle (when all the save points pop up) I love like that peice so much I usually just stand there and listen to it before walking through the room!

Final Fantasy 8, like all other Final Fantasy titles, has several of its own siganture musical pieces that are wonderful. Pieces that others have mentioned, like augmented versions of the battle theme, victory theme, chocobo theme, and even the classic sweeping harp theme, are fantastic too, but not fully unique to this particular game.
In my opinion, Nobuo Uematsu shows his compositional colors in the Edea theme. I apologize for not knowing the correct name of this piece, but it is first played during the assassination attempt in the city of Galbadia, when Edea is to make a speech to the people. Nobuo Uematsu showed similar musical structure in Final Fantasy 7 in the Sephiroth theme ::cold chills:: which was a magnificant score indeed. Which ever piece any person happens to choose as their favorite, you cannot go wrong here. It's like picking out a diamond from a pile of diamonds. |

It's have to be between the Lunatic Pandora song, the song right before you enter Ultimecia's Castle, the music when your in Ultimecias Castle, and Laguna's Dream Battle Music.
