At the beginning of FF8

what GF did you put on each of your 3 young SeeD's??

Squall: Ifrit
Zell: Quezacotl
Selphie: Shiva

Note: I know Siren could be got early, but im only interested in what people put on who at the start. I put Ifrit with Squall cos its the best FF character with the best summon and a nice boost to strength to go .

The other 2 just seemed to fit...

I usually put Shiva with Squall, Quezacotl with Zell, and Ifrit with Selphie.

i did exactly what you(deathgrave) did. it just kinda fits well that way.

I did:
Squall: Quezacolt
Zell: Ifrit
Selphie: forgot to put anything on her while in the first SeeD Test...Dollet Campaign

Squall - Ifrit (because of early STR-J ability) and he is the strongest character with his trigger
Zell - Quezaqotl (because I somehow think that he has a good compatibility with it )
Oh yeah, and the leftovers for Quistis

Squall - Shiva.

I always train in the Alcauld Plains for AP (Mainly against Fastitocalons). I always have Shiva learn "Str-J" there.

Selphie - Quezacotl.

Because I like to give Zell Ifrit's "Str-J", Selphie gets Quezacotl. For some reason, it suits her. Selphie's more of a magic user anyway. Her limit break, Slot is great with a higher Magic value, and Quezacotl has "Mag-J" if I remember correctly.

Zell - Ifrit.

As Zell has a potentially powerful limit break, He gets Ifrit for "Str-J". Also, Zell's basic Strength value is weaker than most of the other characters, so I give him a boost with "Str Bonus" on the first disk.

I've always put it like this
-Squall:Quezacotl
-Zell: Ifrit
-Selphie-Shiva

I don't know why but i like the girl to have a girl gf....strange huh?

I try to match the GF's up with the characters as well. I'm not so concerned over the particular advatages they give at this point anyway.

Squall - Shiva: Goes well with his cold personality.
Zell - Quezacotl: Electrifiying...
Shephie - Ifrit: Well... i'd rather give her cactuar, but I suppose she does have a bit of a firey personality...

i went for:

squall- Ifrit because of the strength bonus to make him nice and strong

zell- quezacotl because he junctioned well with him (i don't know why)

selphine- shiva because of all the magic stuff!

For Squall I had Quezacotl
Zell was Ifrit
and Selphie was Shiva

Squall = Shiva
Selphie = Ifrit
Zell = Quezacotl

And that's how it has been through the whole game! ^_^

I think the first time I played it I had:
Squall: Ifrit
Zell: Shiva
Selphie: Quezacotl

Now I have:
Squall: Shiva
Zell: Ifrit ...and Selphie still the same.

The first time i played the game (after getting used to the way the damn things worked) i think i had
Squall: Ifrit
Zell: Quetzacotl
Selphie: Shiva

Now, after learning from my (numerous) past mistakes i configured it to:
Squall: Ifrit
Zell: Shiva
Selphie: Quetzacotl

Simply because my Zell had an absolutely pathetic attack while selphie had crap magic, so i switched it round and now they work perfectly.
