i agree with them the lunar cry had to hit somewere, and since it came from outer space to would leave a crater, the lunar cry we all saw was disapated by the power of lunatic padora.

other theorie is one of the missles from the missle base hit there.

and last theorie is it could have been a sorcerress that did it in the past.

Arrow

I didnt read about it in any website \ forum \ guide ...

This place was the base of lunar cry that moved before 17 years ago
for unknown reasons ...

You can read about it while talking with Laguna in Disk 3
in Esthar City - President Palace

Anyway ... there is nothing important there

I was really wondering .... but now I dont care about it ...

Right I think I can disprove a few of the theories mentioned up until now:

It's not the crater where you fight pupu; that battle occurs in the crater left behind by balamb garden.

It's not the site of the last lunar cry landing; as it is stated in dialogue during the game that the last lunar cry wiped out the centra civilisation. the crater in question is not on the centra continent.

I wouldn't have thought it was a stray missile as the "missile base mission team" only interfered with the launch of missiles fired at balamb garden, and none of them miss by much!

I suppose it could be just a pointless "easter egg" but it's unlike square to put something in their games that doesn't have some meaning.

So my best guess (and it is just a guess. if anyone can prove me wrong, please do!) is that it may have been the original site of the lunatic pandora excavation. I'm really not sure about this though as I think there are things in the game to contradict it.

I guess we'll never know for sure!

i think the place where the last lunar cry happened was near the centran ruins (where you get odin, where there is a crater with blue rocks in it, there is also a hidden draw point there). i'm not sure i remember a crater on the trabia continent....if there was, it would be a lot like the crater sephiroth was in on FF7. the similarity would be that both craters were on the northern part of the world map and the place is surrounded by snow. of course i do not think it has anything to do with FF7 lol!

I actually wondered about that place as well, as much as you try.. you just can't get through there! I have no idea why that is there and what it was from. I guess they just added it for some reason. I've noticed that people have said it's from the Lunar Cry which would make a lot of sense also. I don't think it really matters what it is, it's just there.

The crater is definently from the Lunar Cry (20 years ago in FF VIII time I believe), but it doesnt explain why you cant pass it whilst your in the Garden. Maybe there's something back there that you could only see with the ragnorak... hmm... I havent played in a while. Someone check and see if theres something nice past the crater if you guys ever have time/are currently still playing FF VIII.

Yeah i think the lunar cry fell on the south continent on centra, because the centra were whiped out by the lunar cry.

The reason that you cant fly over the crater in question is that there is some kind of magnetic field that interferes with the insturments.

What I don't know is what caused it. Possibly the lunatic pandora excavaion

Yeah, It was from the lunar cry either 20 or 100 years before the game...one on the two...
