Well you can use them when your HP on a certain character get really low. Usually youll be able to use them when the HP go yelow colored (instead of the normal white color). It will then have an arrow beside the normal attack option which you must then press right on. Hold it right until you pick the limit and then just let it rip. By the way if it doesnt work right away press skip turn for a sec (remember you have to have HP in yellow) and it will try again. Eventually you should get it.

1.Selphie's The End. You just can't beat anything that takes out every single enemy on screen no matter who/what it is. You just can't
2. Squalls Lionheart, without any doubt the best. Especially if you beef him up with 100 Ultimas junctioned to his strength. Watch and weep.

close runner up is Rinoa's Angel Wings loaded up with plenty of Ultima.

2. Selphie's The End- Selphie takes the enemies to a serene meadow of flowers, where instant death awaits them. Gorgeous. ((Side note: This move doesn't work on bosses. It works on most normal enemies. It's a toughie to get though, so don't expect it to save your ass.))

Effect:
1. Zell's duel- this can do over 400,000 damage if you abuse it like mad. It owns even Squall's Renzokuken, even with Lionheart, which only goes to about 200,000 if you're extremely lucky. Zell's attack easily does much more damage.
2. Rinoa's Invincible moon- The most underrated limit in my opinion, It's basically a Holy War as a limit. Extremely useful.

Overall:
1. Zell's Duel- The best limit break in the game from my perspective, it causes immense damage.

personally I have yet to put much effort into the game. I have squalls lionheart but haven't puch much effort into the others. And now I am just about to enter the fight against ultima. Meltdown and aura, thats all I got.

just train and let zell get the last, and get his hp low enough to use limit break as much as possible and after a while you'll master it i did on my saved game (then beat it).later

why is this even a question? squeenix made the lionheart so overpowered that it soars above everyone elses. the distant second is zells armagedon fist, but even that is not quite as good as lionheart.

The End will kill anything in one hit, One of my friends use to do it on the weapons; Cheap but Effective.

Actually Whiteboy, Zell's limit can do the most innate damage and its quite easy to do so as well. The reason I didnt pick him for the best though is because this question was based on the normal effect of the limit and not loop holes like with Zell's limit.

Zell's booya-punch rush infinite is so damn monotonous that it's not even worth doing it no matter how much damage it does.squall's lionheart on the other hand while random doesnt require yo full attention and does 180000 and its cool to watch too. squall wins.

Actually you do not need to be in the yellow to do a Limit Break. You can do a limit break at any time, but you have to be extremely lucky or set for a long time pushing the triangle button.

Though I do not even waste my time on get my characters to yellow HP, I just Aura them and instant Limit Break no questions asked. Lionheart and Zell's Duel are the best limits, which is why I have them in my party. Then I have Rinoa because she has the random Angelo Limits and two limits of her own one that is Combine and the other Angel Wings or something like that.

The Lionheart is the single best Limit Break in the game standing alone, The End is unreliable. Though you get enough time with Zell and he can add up the points, especially if you are really good and fast. I can get in about 3 limits a sec roughly and if you are give like 14-17 secs, that is 45-60 limits total. Which is very nice to have. He reminds me of Tifa and her eight limits if you got them all on Hit or better.

Sadly Squall's attack was more powerful since he gets in more attacks (which is bullshit). Maybe Im only saying this because Squall was mental **** up and Cloud was ten times as cool as him.

Zell's limit's own in all those category's.

I liked his Final Heaven, or whatever it was. Looked cool, and did some good damage.

I like Squall's limit, especially Lion Heart. Huge damage, and beautiful too

I enjoyed Squall's Lionheart, but it's so damn rare! Overall these are my fav LB:

For people who don't know about this LB...you need Selphie at LV 100! and then again it's Super RARE!

Selphie's THE END also works on omega weapon??? seriously???! my goodness why haven't i tried that >_< i thought in only works on minor enemies

Yah, i know that trick! I also tried that one on Omega Weapon.
When you're in Selphie's limit break, open the lid of your PS so that the AI (Omega Weapon) cannot perform any attack. Then just "do over" a few times till you find the "THE END" limit break. Close the lid then, cast it on Omega! Kabooom.. lolz *evil*
