But Doomtrain inflicts many status ailments on enemies, that's why he's useful. I use him all the time on monsters I know are going to own me otherwise. He's useful against monsters in the deep sea research facility, seeing as you can't run from them when battles start getting tough.

I think I only realised Boost the second time on playing the game. Then again, I didnt used to read what everything did... Meh, probably why I was so crap in those days at it. It helps to read these things ...XD

I never found the boost to useful to be honest with you. Yeah it does increase the damage but I never used it. To be honest when I got further into the game, I didn't really even find GFs all too useful. I find Aura, Limits, Triple, Curaga, and sometimes(but rare) powerful, 3rd Level spells if the monster is elemental more useful. I use Cerebrus maybe. GFs in the Disk 2 were helpful. Even the Fake President in Disc 1 was easy because I spent a half-hour in the help screen as soon as I had the option to. I found out that the Fake Pres's second form was viable to Pheoinx Downs 'cause he is a Zombie. I was happy to find that out. Edea, although difficult I had managed at an average of level 17 for my party I did not use GFs(mostly because I didn't know how. only I could manage to do something like that even though i studied the help screen)I did largly use Elemental Defense to my advantage. Mind you I had to fight Edea like 20-30 times so it wasn't instant. GFs even to this day when I replay the game I try to use minimally. I guess I knid of pre-trained myself you know?

It wasn't till I was helping my freind out till I noticed boost, and he told me
I had easily beaten the game with my GFs without using boost but What i had used the most was the Limit Duel
I thought duel just dlightly incresed all stats because it was only a 10 AP ability

I gotta say i loved my summons lol i used them alot plus the fact i got squall and quistis to lv 0 b4 i got to fight ifrit was a help lol it was funny seeing squall lv 20 and zell lv 9 lol

Honestly "Boost" is a GREAT ability until you get the summons to lv. 70 after that you'll always hit 9999, then there's Eden. If you don't hit 250(I think that was the max you can get, its been AGES since I've played FFVIII) then you have something wrong with your thumb. You can hit MAX 60,000 with Eden(Lv.100 and 250boost). But the thing is that when you start to get the cool and useful summons you already do a hell of a LOT of damage with Limit Breaks, the only one that actually useful is Doomtrain(I've heit about 225 in boost with this one). Once you got Aura, the game is over.

i loved the boost ability. i didnt have to much problem getting the maxxxed out cus i had a controller that had a turbo setting on it. so i just set the turbo to the square button and went to town!!!

What the ****??? you can't use a turbo controller! the red x, man. the red X.

You can use a turbo controller, but you just have to pay attention to when the X is about to pop up.
That's the method i used all the time.

Well I dont really think its much of an achievement to get your boosts maxed out using a turbo controller lol.

Anyways I was always one of those that discovered the boost ability late on in the game (I think it was in the other flying Garden). I remember wondering early on in the game what that ability is for. Than I thought maybe it just makes them stronger automatically (like adding to stats or something) and decided to learn it. Its a great feeling when you find out that you had wasted your time learning something while not actually using it.

well i knew about the boost before i even started playing ff8 my friend had it and i always read info on the game online i pretty much masterd it lol i would get REAL close to all of the gf's i would get close to 250 just incase thats the max which thats why eden can hit over 25k in total i belive he can hit 35k but ya

Yeah the 'boost' ability is great i think. It makes your GF's inflict more damage. The X is just to make sure you don't get too high otherwise the game really wuld be too easy. Many people didn't realise about boost for quiet a while. I know someone who completed the game and didn't even know about boost!

I didn't know about Boost and I was close to finishing the game, when a friend of me told me. It's really useful. My GFs already knew this ability, but I never used it. When I started the game again, I used it all the time. It was really cool. It helped me a lot.
