what do you think is the best thing about Final Fantasy VIII

the music, no doubt. my personal favorite tracks are the Greiver (by himself, not junctioned) battle, and when balamb sends reinforcements to dollet (the "Dollet Freild Exam")

I played it repeatedly for the final battles, they rocked!!! And I loved the ending.

Ontopic, there were several things cool about FFVIII.. one of them being the HUGE variety of spells you could Draw from monsters. And speaking of that, the actual Draw system itself -> No MP like the other FF's, you can just keep on Drawing and Drawing and Drawing until 100 then go ballistic. Nice graphics, great battle music (normal and boss) and the Junction/GF system was easy once you got used to it.

Damn good game in its own right.

I agree with everyone....I loved it all from the junctioning system to the battle system to the music, story line, and IMG quality. The attacks and spells looked SO wicked...and even the one attack where the character could EAT the monster had a bit of humor in it....being that it would go to a scenic screen with the "please wait" message on it while you heard grumbling/eating sounds....I thought it was hillarious. Always had that attack with Rinoa....so funny.

Also the chocobos and some of the other characters....just simply ADORABLE. Now I didn't really use the chocobos in 8 but at least they existed in some form. Also the cards....didn't really like to play the game but I got 'em all except for maybe two or three minor cards....all the summon/character cards I have.

I like how you don't really know what happened in the past unless you pay attention to the story line and piece things together yourself too, ya know? Makes you think in another way besides the games and side quests and what tactic to use in battle.

In other words....simply put....FF8 is (in my eyes) the best Final Fantasy ever.

Another thing I liked about it: NO KINGDOM, NO PRINCESS OR KNIGHT, NO "PAST" FEEL ABOUT IT! I love that part....that's the ultra-best thing about it...nothing old-skool except the summons themselves which STILL kicked arse.

The storyline is very good, some things are a little too coincidental like everybody knowing each other from the orphanage but it's not that big a deal. The characters aren't that great compared to other FF's considering that the story mainly involved Squall and Rinoa. The romance between them still seemed very lifelike. The gameplay the most important factor course was great, especially with the new brought in junction system. It makes for lots of tweaking for perfect stats. The limit break system had a nice interactive touch to it from triggering R1 at the correct time to pulling off button combo's in the few seconds that you get. FFVIII has been and still is a fun experience for me after all these years.

The thing i liked most about FF8 was the whole story,charecters,Gf's and everything else about the game that game was great.

I thought this was one of the best ff games that i have played sofar. Of course it was the one that got me hooked so i hadnt really played the ones before....I started playing ff7 a little while ago but i only got a bit into it before it started mucking up...Grrrr But i really liked the storyline in ff8 coz it was romantic....Im a sucker for romance stories!!! I think it was betta than ffx though, just had a little more depth in the storyline

8 is way too realistic and factual to really be enjoyed as much as zelda..or old school ff's..or even megaman..imo..yeah it really is a smooth game but i say no..don't enjoy playing it anymore..

I really enjoyed playing FF8. I was addicted from start to finish. It had a great storyline and all of the characters were unique. Squall's Lionheart can do some serious damage, it rocks! It's the first FF game I ever played and it's my favourite.

FF8 is my favourite Final Fantasy. Ever. The FMVs are AMAZING and I cannot get enough of the music played throughout the game. And the story is the better than any other game. Again ever.

FF8 was my first Final Fantasy so it has always been my fave! Everythings great, the storyline, the graphics, the opening and ending sequences, the music (Liberi Fatali, eyes on me, the landing) The junction system ( I've only just figure out how to use it properly and it totally rocks! The weapons, limits....everything!
