Hello FF World

Hey everybody!
My friend has been bugging me forever to get Final Fantasy VII. So with my recently aquired christmas money, I went to hastings. I bought FFVII and played it for about an hour, then I realized "Theres too many I's there."
Yes, I had accidentally bought the wrong game.
Damn roman numerals!

Anyways, FFVIII has been very fun. Its not only my first FF game, its my first RPG.

I'm 7 hours in, and I'm to the part where I have to go to the other Garden. Sorry, I forgot the name.
Could someone give me a progress check? What percent am I through disc 1? The whole game?

Also, how do I get to the new Garden?

Thank you!

Whoops.... mistake-a-roo. (Says the man with a large photo of slayer as his sig)

Well, you're not very far in. At this point though, I had about 21 hours on the game, and Squall had max level and strength. If you're willing to put in the time and effort, the game is ungodly easy. But, you're right on track.
As for the question: They say that there is a forest seperating two mountains. That's your ticket. Look around, and search for a bridge, next to a large forest. Cross the bridge, enter the forest, and OMG it's GALBADIA Garden.

JSYK: That forest is a great place to level up and learn abilities.

I'd say thats about 2/3 through disc 1, perhaps a bit more. 7 hours and there on your first go is not bad I guess, but my time's normally much greater, as I level up loads beforehand XD.

What level are you? I recommend atleast level 20 by the end of Disc 1 is what you should be.

I tend to spend a lot of time leveling up whenever I can, also. I dislike the frustration caused by bosses that you just can't beat.
I have the guide, I can tell you how far you are thru the game.
Your about 1/3 (wild estimate) thru the game. You have a lot of boss battles and side quests ahead of you to make it a bit longer.
Congratulations on your first RPG, welcome to the world. . .well, my world. . . *cough*.
Just remember to explore everywhere you can, to do all the side-quests to get the whole experiance the game has to offer.

Are you guys insane?

FFVIII is the game where you should dleay the leveling up the most, to be able to take advantage the most of it. The easy way to do it, as soon as you depend not of Squall, kill the mother fucker, eh will be most useful dead than alive.

Why? because your enemies level up at the same level that Squall does, for crying out loud, if you end up disc 1 above level 15, you overdid it.

Also the card ability would be your best allies, as you on ly need the AP of your enemies during the first two discs, after you get all the GFs and mastered them you can start leveling up without problem, but that's in disc 3 remember.

Also, use Selphie and Zell as party companions, why? because they mainly suck. Rinoa, Irvine and Quistis(specially these last two) are better characters, their limits are more powerful(ok, The End is the most powerful limit, but it's just too hard to get it like to depend on it) and their stats raise in a better way.

This game is not to level up your characters, i repeat NOT TO LEVEL UP; that wont help you at all, trust me on this one. Also you need to have Squall alway in a lesser level than the rest of your party, so your party can kick the arse of any enemy.

It's common knowledge people c'mon

I realy have never noticed it making much different. Yes, the monsters level up as yuo do, but I've never actually noticed the game seem any harder as this has happened, accept maybe for when I'm against Omega Weapon

Still though, admittedly I've played the game a lot, so the game WOULD seem easy to me no matter what level I'm at :/

I really haven't even notice. You do want to lv up because the monsters get stronger and when you get higher lv you can get better magic sometimes. I think I was like lv30 or more by the end of disk one. I really liked to train at the trainning center. You lv up really fast. I love doing the card thing. It takes me awhile to get some strong cards.

Answer to you question. You are almost done with the first disc. I would say about 3/4 done with the first disc. As to the whole game, you have barely scratched the surface. There is a whole lot more to the game. FFVIII was my first FF game too and I fell in love with the game. I couldn't stop playing it. As to how to get to the garden: Get on a train in Timber heading to Dollet, and then get off at East Acadamy Station, then move the camera around you and you should see a small forest between a gap of mountains, you should past through here, and Galbadia Garden is just on the other side, just rotate the camera when your through and you'll see it. If you need anymore help, just ask. Later.

I think you actually got lucky buying FF8 by mistake. It's a good introduction into the world of RPG's and it's actually quite different to all the other FF games particularly in the way the battle system works.
If you become a FF addict (and i'm sure you will!) you'll find that all the other FF's are easier to get along with because you've played this one first. You won't come across this one 2nd or 3rd FF in and think it's odd because its different. Have fun with it and do play it through to the end. There's nothing quite like the sense of satisfaction you get from completing one of these games

Yeah I would also say you are about 2/3 through the game...when you get to GALBADIA garden, you will get nother character, irvine kinneas, you will need him to do a mission, when you complete the mission, you are at the end of disc two. Like Angel of Death said, if you put your time and effort into it, you can complete the game easily, but if you dont bother to level build, you may struggle. Have fun!

I was planning on buying Final Fantasy VII before VIII. I saw a preview for it and thought it looked awesome. I ended up going to the game store and searched around the place for VII, I couldn't find it! Instead I saw many copies of VIII. I looked at it and said, 'Should I get this?' I had played the demo of VIII before hand and rather liked it. Mum asked me if I was sure I wanted to get it and I said, 'Yeah, I suppose so!' I bought it, took it home and started playing it. I was hooked straight away. I was so glad that I bought VIII first. It was such an awesome experience. ^_^ I had so much fun playing it.

I'm getting really quite sick and tired of saying this. Yes the enemies level up at the rate that Squall does. But I do hasten to add that you should level Squall up to about 30 as you can draw beeter magic and steal/gain better items once you reach that level. I do really recommend FFVIII, it's the one FF I've played till Kingdom Come lol
