To be Honest i hated his guts. He was so annoying. I liked Ivine better than him. The old cold shoulder thing has been done once too many with cloud. Cloud was annoying enough. Squall was just Emo, I know yea, his mother died and Ellone abandoned him.

I Hated him also because when Rinoa was gone he just flipped out and started saying "Geez I love her!". Quite random if you think about it. There was Barely no chemistry until he fell off the float.

I personally think that Square tried to make Squall look as a strange characther in the game even they tried to make him look like a guy of few words !

I really like Squall. I thought he was pretty cool. But if I were him, I would be going after his teacher, Quistis. She was WAY hotter than Rinoa. jkjk

Plus every time I take a "Which FF character are you?" quiz, It's Squall about99% of the time...

I didn't like Squall at first, because he acted so annoying when he was the lone wolf type. But as the game progresses, you suddenly get to like him because of his attitude!

It was a bit deeper then that. People like Squall are stubborn. I know a person just like him. he puts a brick wall in front of his heart and is in very much denile, but then they find the one person, the one person that has ever stood up to his ways and was pushy enough to get out of his aloof. He then realize holy shit she cares about me..and i was an ass to her. And he justed needed that Irvine/Quistis in the ass to realize it.

Squall was completely human, and i definiately respect him as a good complex character. He gave us more variety. i liked him...though he wouldn't exactly be my best friend...

Squall is my second favourite FF main character ever, he may be very cold, depressed and generally hard to talk to but I think that makes him unique as it makes his very mysterious and that always leads to a great story. Squall is great!

Squall wasn't that bad. It was annoying when he hid his feelings and tried to act cold hearted. But at least he changed, maybe not enough, still he needed a change.

I dont know, what do you have againsst Squall!

He is very good character and as Mastercloud said he is final fantasy hero. What is so unreally on him? Maybe his clothes, but... it is part of FFVIII. And I played it three times, but I never was disappointed about story and other characters. FFVIII is good one. His story is great, but not comparable with FFVII story, of course. I love FFVIII much. All. And Squall is really GOOD! I always am identified with Squall in every quiz.

hmm. I thought he was okay.
Really, the game was about Squall eventually opening up.
At the beginning he hated a lot of people...
but then at the end he was more open with himself.
Personally i thought the story (and Squall charecter) was very well written.
and thats why i enjoyed the game so much.

Squall was awesome. Squall was not emo, and I'm tired of having to correct people on that. If you played the game you'd know that he was just misunderstood. He didn't want to be hurt like he was when he was a kid. Because of that he always appeared "coldhearted" and "emo" but he was neither.

I think he was a cool character because he seemed different from Cloud to Zidane to Tidus.He had the quiet, reserved attitude, but it seemed cool how slowly he opens up and comes out of his shell. I wish they didn't have the draw for GF's and magic system because it sucked.I'd prefer the original battle system though.
