Limit Break ?Glitch?

Okay, the other day I was playing 7 and I was just running around in North Coral morphing the drangon things for the Guard Sources. I had Red XIII in my party and I had his limit set to lvl 2. I only had the first one of lvl 2 as well. Well, after one battle, the sign popped up that told me that Red had gotten a diff limit. I didn't think much about it 'cause I thought it was going to be his second lvl 2 limit. It wasn't! It was his first lvl 3 limit. I'm so confused. I've never had anything like this happen to me before. Does anybody know if this is a glitch or if you are always able to do this and I just didn't know?

It's not a glitch. There are certain criteria to meet for getting different limits. For the second level 2 limit, you have to use the first level 2 limit a certain amount of times. For the first level 3 limit, you have to kill a certain amount of enemies.

ya she said it all mostly. theres also limit breaks that might make you think that its the last one but you should keep on using it

Essentially you have to use the level 2 limit break around 8 times before you'll earn your second level 2 limit break. I'd do this if I were you, because if you do not learn ALL the limit breaks for any given character, they cannot learn their level 4 limit break.

So I don't really have to learn any of the second limits for each one...as long as I just kill enough before I use the limit very much? But I can't learn my lvl 4 limit until I learn all the limits before it. Huh, didn't know that. Thanks Guys!

Would this explain then why, when I completed FF VII recently, that I didn't have Clouds final Limit Break during the battle with Mr. Sephorith's final form, but when you go one-on-one for the final hit, I could use Omnislash?

If you mean that VERY last fight with him then the answer is you can always use omnislash on him. It doesn't matter if you only have the 1st lv1 limit break there, it will let you use omnislash. It's just one of those things. But you best be quick because if you don't do anything you will counter-attack him eventually .

It's not a glitch, it just means that you met the criteria for the level 3 limit break, before the second level two one.

Ya, they made it so you always use Omnislash in that fight. The only way not to use Omnislash in that fight is if you don't use it, he'll attack you and then you counter and he dies. So ya....

i the way i skipped around all the time i used to do it jsut because.. sell i just always whent though every battle until a boss and killed enimies without a attack or limit so by the time i got to the next limit i was at the next boss in the game.

I hate getting the lvl 4 LB's. Cause you have to do so much just to get something you will use once or twice cause it takes so long just to fill the bar
(yea i know there are some enemys that can fill the bar up easy, but what if you don't survive the fight?) But once you get it you will be god. If you use them right!!

the easiest place to level up your limit breaks as far as using them i found was on the sunken ship.. those unknowns can kick you ass in a hurry.. and when you get to use and weaken them you can then morph them into sources

i prefer to get all my limits early just train after you get out of midgar all the fight you want and there really easy counts to the fights and just stand and let them hit ye so yer limit goes up so u can use it and get the level 2 limits so u dont miss any.
