Magic Vs Summons

Ok which one of these do you choose to use the most in all of the FF games?

Me personaly don't really use ethire one. I just go all out with reg attacks. I might use magic every now and then. Same with the summons. But only because I want to get ride of the enemy faster. What about you people?

I say summon are by far more useful than magic. But in ffx even the summons can use magic. Also in ffviii without the summons you are nothing but an easy target. So I say summons rock (eventhough sometimes summoning can be boring).

Totally agree. I mainly just use regular attacks. Summons are cool, especially playing the game the first time round and not knowing what they were like but overall I prefer magic, and find it more useful.

I mainly use magic or regular attacks but so i went with magic but summons are really useful too.

The only reason why i use magic more than summons, is because the summons take to long. When you are in a time battle, it is best to use magic, or regular attacks. Thats were x2 and x4 cut come in handy.

most of the time i just use regular attacks. But then again, i like to use summons against hard bosses (knights of round anyone?). In ff7 though, i didnt use magic very much at all. My physical attacks did mostly 9999damage.

Yeah, I agree... I mean, imagine casting knights of the round in every battle

And that's another part of the reason. At the beginning of the game, magic was powerful- but there came a point where regular attacks were equally as powerful.

I guess overall I like a mixture of magic and regular attacks. I don't use summons very often.

nothing beats limit breaks. they're the best attack form in the game. i still go for magic however, more versatile than summons, and they take way too much time, especially knights of the round. its damned powerful, but you can go make yourself a cup of tea till it finishes!

Well...yeah, but there's a limit on magic too- if you run out of MP and items, you can't use them anymore. But other than that, you can use them as much as you like

MP you can freely restore if you have items or certain spells. outside MP cost, you cannot restore the ability to cast summons if you've already spent your limit. of course, not that i would want to constantly recast knights of the round over and over, that would be boring...

Regular attack of course. Magic and summons aren't fair against enemy/bestisary. But if I have to choose one of those, I choose Magic. Just because it is easier to get Magics to master level than summons master level. Well, magic doesn't make so much damage like KotR but I still choose magic.

Ultima + Quadra magic , Cover + Magic Counter and Magic Counter + Ultima = much damage always
