even though there made of the same thing, it has no difference. u just hav 2 think spells vs summons and i say summons wud win, by far. they r better versions of spells

Umm dude... How do you think magic, and summons and all that stuff were made? In the lifestream. Which is only in FFVII I think. Materia is magic, and summons, and all that other stuff you use. Have you seen the movie? If you have you will notice that Cloud had a chest of Materia in the Aeris's church. Lows took it, and gave it to Kadja. Then he summon Buhamant sin, and when Yuffie showed up to the fight she said.. Now mark my words. "Who's using my materia." I can't really remeber if she it like that, but she did say something in the catagorie. Now am I wrounge, are am I write. If you still think that I am wroung, then look it up.

Summons are cool to watch but after a while I get tired of waiting for their scenes to be over especialy knights of the round, that one took forever. So I use magic more.

Summons are funner to use and spells you can use more but summons are more powerful so i like summons more then regular spells

Hold on I got all mixed up. I remeber what Materia is now. It is the giant crystal things. Huge Materia. I was thinking that the magic, and summons were Materia, because you get Bahumat Zero form one of the Huge Materia's. Sorry about that.

I'm goin with summon because they kinda use magic in there attack and the attack most of the time gets rit of enemies faster then casting a strong spell(Metor,flare,etc.)

Summons get are long and get to boring in FFVII,
magic's quick and more than adequate.

well it depends i mean to me magic is useful for hasting character slowing enemies, and doubling summon attacks.

summons are useful for kicking the hell out of bosses such as emerald, and yet without magic they won't be as effectivie, so both are equal to me.

There are points in all FF games where magic is more usefull than summons & vice versa.

In the beginning of most FF games, magic is more useful both because the first summons are quite weak & because there's just so few of them. For instance, it's better to use Fire2 & Bolt2 in FFVII, rather than using Ifrit or Chocobo/Mog; you can use it more times too. Later on though, a Bahamut Zero does the trick.

In FF IV, Rydia had a number of summons, but other than Bahamut, whose damage was non-elemental, when i was to use elements, i found myself mostly using Black Magic.

In FF X, after a certasin point, the Aeons deal so much damage that there's no need to use spells. They simply kick ass.

In others, like FFTA & FF XII, the summons are useless. They're not that strong. Especially when using a Viera Summoner- the only one who can summon- rather than have her as an Assasin or a Red Mage. In XII, they're ok when dealing with simple foes who don't require a strategy; they don't last that long though. I used mostly spells in both games.

I would have to go with spells as well. Summons are good to use but magic more then summons. In the beginning of the game, I did a lot of battling to get my fire, ice, and thunder materia to the next level so I can cast the Level 2 spells. They're really powerful and you aren't limited to using them about once or twice compared to using Choco/Mog, Ifrit, or Ramuh.

I use both Summon and Magic depending on the situation at the time.

Uhh it depends which FF game. I mean in every FF game I use white magic since it's so handy really and just smart to use. But if it came to Black magic or summons overall I go summons. I use them more and you can have more of an affect in a fight with it. magic takes alot of build up and just by the time you get them normally it's too late for it to take hard affect. so I vote summons.

My vote between magic VS summons, my vote goes to summons. In Final Fantasy 7 thats what I used the most. I barely used magic in this game, if I was in a tough battle I would use my summons first.
