I have a question:

If all members of SOLDIER are injected with Jenova cells, then why can you still fight some of them throughout the game? Surely they should have all gone to the reunion?

I don't think they had Jenova Cells injected into them. Weren't they just showered with Mako?

they were just showered with mako....only a certain few were...cloud....sephiroth....i may be wrong but zack as well i believe

Spoiler: Yeah, only Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth, were injected with Jenova's cells (Except for all the other black cloaked wanderers) , all the rest of Shinras infantry were only showered with Mako, the Infantry that you see and battle are just mere Shinra Soldiers, they arent SOLDIER (Shinras Elite). Cloud also states this when he returns to the 7th Heaven from the first bombing mission, when Berret asked if those were the SOLDIERs that Cloud comes from, and he said no. I think you remember Hojo calling Cloud a 'Failed Experiment', that was when they injected Jenova's into him to be cloned into another Sephiroth (A Super Human). Edit: Cloud wasnt really SOLDIER, he was only infantry. He only took part in the experiments because he was the one who "killed" Sephiroth when he threw him into the Lifestream, the experiments on Cloud and Zack (and of course all the other black cloaked wanderers) all took place when Sephiroth came missing.

Lord Dias, your information is absolutely incorrect. At the point when Barret asks 'did we fight any SOLDIERs' Cloud says no because there WERE no SOLDIER's in the first Mako Reactor Raid.

Further, EVERY member of SOLDIER is injected with JENOVA cells just like the Sephiroth clones (black cloaked men). The difference between them is that those candidates that are worthy to be members of SOLDIERS pocess strong wills that allow them to RESIST the instincts of JENOVA (such as the REUNION and the need to obey Sephiroths will) while those that do not pocess strong wills become true Sephiroth clones (puppets of Sephiroth's will and JENOVA's instinctial drive to reform, also known as the REUNION).

This is proven by the presence of JENOVA cells in the Deep Ground SOLDIERS in Dirge of Cerberus. In Advent Children the Children whos Jenova cells have been activated flock to the statue in the town of Edge under which the entrance to the Deep Ground SOLDIERS base can be found. The reason for this is because there is a huge concentratiuon of JENOVA cells there due ot the presence of the SOLDIERS. Remember, Jenova's primary drive is to re-unite with other Jenova cells. During them ovie, there were more cells down there than there were in the canister holding Jenova's head. Thus the plan to use the children as blood hounds to find it was a failure.

ALL MEMBERS of SOLDIER and Sephiroth Clones are injected with JENOVA's cells. The reason why the SOLDIERS do not go to the REUNION is because they can resist.

Here's an example. Go to Junion. One of the Shopkeepers there in the upper rooms says he was an Ex-member of SOLDIER. If you return to that shop in Disc 3 after the attack of Saphire WEAPON he will be wearing a black cloak. He says 'I don;t know why, but I've felt like dressing this way lately'.

He mimics the Sephiroth clones YET HE DID NOT GO TO THE REUNION. Why? He wasa member of SOLDIER, with a will that could resist JENOVA's instincts and Sephiroths whispered commands.

i always thought that all the soldier had jenova cells in them and where affected by mako because they were around it so much. Also i'm pretty sure that the canisters that had Cloud and Zack was mako, and hojo injected cloud with Jenova cells to further "improve" him. Am i right?

After cloud awakens from the Lifestream in Mideel and tells his story of how he was the one responsible for Sephiroths disappearnce he goes on to state, and I paraphrase. True, but it is remarkable that a member of SOLDIER could stand up to him AT ALL given they are injected with JENOVA's cells. It would take a remarkable amount of will really.

Thats true. Cloud was never cleared to be a member of SOLDIER, but he made a perfect Sephiroth Clone for Hojo's experiments. Unfortunately for Cloud he was so weak that he swiftly experienced a failure in his systems similar to Mako Sickness, which was actually the JENOVA cells reformating his being. Hojo thus deemed him a 'failure' because he couldn't remain stable, but since Zack had already undergone the process it didn;t really affect him. Oddly it was Zacks death that triggered Clouds semblance of a 'mind' to surface, built on his memories of Zack and then later on the memories Tifa had of Cloud.

So would you say that Cloud's will was less or more remarkable? He stood up to Sephiroth a number of times, but also succumbed to Sephiroth's will on a number of occasions. Perhaps it was more remarkable towards the end of the game?

Well to start out with his will was incredibley weak. However that he could muster the resolve to attack Sephiroth, even if it was only driven by berserker rage and anguish, is somethign to note.

Its perhaps that, more than his will, that allows him to overcome Sephiroth.

At the end of the day, Sephiroths will is supreme...but Clouds emotions, and the emotions and will of the Planet act to counteract him.
