Cloud-why all the blind loyalty?

Whyis there so much blind loyalty to cloud in this forum i mean hes a decent character but i dont feel hes cool enough to have so many people following him blindly, cause in the vincent vs cloud thread peoples only ways of killing vincent are that cloud runs in and cuts vincent now do not post about vincent vs cloud that would end up with two similar threads but if you blindly follow cloud please reply because i just don't get it , cause like he may be the main character but hes not the best and AC just has increased the amount of loyalty due to how insanely powerful he was.

You say he has popularity over overrated characters when he himself is overrated by far, in my save of FFVII cloud was my worst team member and all through the game i wanted to get rid of him and he may have the best limitbreak but without he would suck, also you say the big sword is cool when it really isn't there are cooler characters than cloud all through the game with more interesting and eccentric weapons, for instance Cait Sith I hate him although the megaphone is an interesting chioce for a weapon or yuffie who uses shrikens and other thrown objects that makes her that much less boring as a character, and redXIII uses a hair pin as a weapon these are all interseting because with the hairpin and the megaphone you have no idea why they were chosen and yuffie is an oriental based weapon which makes it interestingf becuase no one else uses that weapon.

Some people like cloud just because he is the main character. Mostly people see more than just a "main character" in cloud. Cloud isnt my favourite character, sephiroth is but I am still a big fan of cloud. The reason why he is the main character is because he is so cool NOT he is so cool because of being the main character. But still it is a matter of opinion.

People like a hero that they think they can relate to. Cloud seems a perfect fit because he's messed up in the head. How many people go around saying that they're messed up from whatever emotional traumas they may have claimed to have suffered. Granted, Cloud is a well crafted character, but you can't relate to him solely because your only trauma is that daddy didn't buy you a pony.

Seocndly, FF7 is like a gateway FF. It was really the most popular FF back when it first came out, grabbing a shitload of attention from the magazines. Hell, it even had awesome commercials. Honestly, it was my first FF and for that reason it holds a place in my heart. I'm not saying I'm ****ed up or anything, but everyone, especially teenagers can relate to Cloud on some level, with feelings of confliction and an identity crisis of sorts, when new styles are tries out and you try to form your own unique identity and style through the clothes you wear, things you do and kids you chill with. In that sense, Cloud was crafted around teens, so it's easy to relate. Even now, at 19, I can still draw parallels with Cloud, in that I'm trying to make something of myself by going to college and trying to become successful in what I do.

Throughout the course of the storyline, you sympathise/for with Cloud, and end up growing attacked to his charracter, much like most people did with Aeris [i.e. they're sad when she dies ]. So yeah, you follow his character development from preety screwed up ass to team leadr, cool etc.

It's all Square's clever character developments that overate him
