Sephiroth left or right handed?

In ff7, on field Sephiroth always carries his sword in the right hand...but in battle and advent children he uses the left hand.

So which one is it?

Ambidextrous?

According to what I've found about Advent Children, all the villians were purposely made to be left handed. I don't know about the game itself though. My bet is they weren't being consistant and will blame it on, as AdventChimp said, ambidextrous.

Ummm...Does it really matter? I mean, I didn't notice it to tell you the truth.

could have seen that.
I agree with the ambidexterous thing. I mean, sephiroth
has been training for years. In fact, he's like a god.
Why should he be supressed by any bodily limitations
such as right/left handedness?

The logical Belief does seem to be he is Ambidexterous. After all, a master swordsmen such as himself could quite easily become proficent with either hand.
However if you perhaps Look at the movie another possible explanation occurs.


In FF7 the Game Sephiroth in his true self uses the Masamune in his right hand, this is the real Sephiroth.
Sephiroth in AC is a technical shadow formed from a reminent Kadaj, and an infusion of Jenova Genes. Of course Sephiroth retains his appearence, skill and bizzarely his sword. However it can be believed he retains Kadaj's proficent skills as well, which may well consist of being more skillful with the blade in his left hand.
Watch the movie Again, If Kadaj wields the blade in his left hand there may be your answer.

Kadaj is left handed along with the other villains. I guess yours makes sense.

I wouldn't have thought of that. I forgot that Sephiroth was
just a shadow. And it appears that Kadaj IS in fact left handed
according to some screenshots I found. So you could be
right! Good job.

Square probably lost track of it in working on the rist of the game. Either that or they did it to make us all sit here and wonder which one is dominate.

Just to let you know, he holds his sword with both hands in battle. He LEADS with his left though. His battle stance holds the sword to the right...when he swings it he SLASHES to the left. Its bascially the fact its a katana style grip he uses on his sword that may give you the illusion of him using both hands or his right, because its on his right...he does grip his sword with both hands, but the left hand is closest to the guard and it is the left hand that he uses most when slashing...the right is just their for guidance.

also note in all talking scenes in FF7 with his sprite, if Sephiroth has the masamune, he holds it only in his left hand.

If I could give you a live demonstration, I think it would work better >_<

My take is this. Sephy was a fictional character. Not even human.

Therefore, he doesn't have to worry about being left or right handed. He could probably juggle his sword with his wang if he wanted to....

Normal rules for humans don't apply to game characters. Sorry.

well yes it does seem that he is amidextrous or that shadow theroy but i doubt he will be juggling swords with his wang anytime soon.
