Why?

Why people love this game so much...? For myself I don't see caution why this game is so popular all over to world. So we need peoples who can give little bit longer answers than 'Cloud is best'. That doesn't tell why? So why the game/characters/plot/etc. etc. is so good? So idea of this thread is to prove to me WHY IT IS SO F*CKING GOOD. So let's start...

I like Final Fantasy VII because of the storyline and the hidden messages. I basically see it as a story about life and how humans are destroying the plannet.

It's a bit like the story of our current world state, but expanded into greater propertions with more imagination. ShinRa are taking away the Earth's natural resources. It's blood, and everything it lives by. They process it to make people happy, though there are still people living in urban poverty in ShinRa's HQ City, Midgar. Without the spirit energy, or Mako, the plannet withers and dies. People do not see this. They are too comfy living their own lives with power and home comferts. Like us in our age, they cannot revert.

Avelanche are a group of eco warriors. They understand that ShinRa are slowly killing the world, so they aim to stop them using terrorist actions. Then as the story develops, the calamity of the skies and Sephiroth become apparent. The Earth cannot heal it's wounds with these obstacles. The main playable characters are fighting for life. Although they have their own reasons why they are fightng (Barret=Marlene, Cloud=settle past etc.).

This is only part of the story, and the rest of it is good too, how many of these characters have ties to eachother in complex ways which isn't apparent early on in the story. They all face their hardships, yet carry on fighting for the future.

So yeah... the depth and complexity of the storyline does it for me. I like some of the characters, and even those who i dislike (Cloud, Aeris) i think are good in other ways. I definatly dont consider myself to be a fangirl, as there are other games I really like too, and I dont see the point of being obsessed by a videogame, but I think it is still a great, classic RPG.

It was my first RPG and my first complicated game, at that.
Before that, I had, either played with my nephew and niece's games, at the time, what they had available were the Marios, A Duck's Tale, The Legend of Zelda, you get the idea.
Then, years later, when I bought my first console, I went by what little I knew at the time, that resulted in Donkey Kongs, Medievil, etc.
Only went I came across FFVII, I realized that games, at least story wise could be much, much more than I had ever suspected.
I couldn't believe it.
And there was so much to do, too.
Plus, I love the broody atmosphere.

Gameplay.

The battle/Limit system, the Materia system, the size of the game and the way the optional side quests are actually FUN as opposed to being just so incredibly tedious and annoying, like all the other FF games that came after it.

Hildegarde and Light Mage,Give me more clearing answer like Valentine did. She has bigger and clearing answers than you too together...so try again. Only Valentine have make thing right. She told WHY. So why it's so good...?

How could "Gameplay" not be a good enough reason for liking the game?

I even said what it was about the gameplay, what parts of the gameplay, that made me like it so much.

I'm not interested in an in-depth critique of the plot, it's storyline or real-world implications as analogies for suffering and environmental causes.

I just like how the game plays.

This is what the story is truely about. As far as WHY people like it?

For whatever reason the characters and plot in this are very believeable and easy to relate to. They leave just enough to the imagineation(spelling?) (unlike the FF games scince) without leaving you wondering, too many things (like previous FF's). IMO

FF7 definitly isn't my favorite, that goes to FF6, but those are pretty much the reasons I think everyone loves it.

dude omg STORYLINE and GAMEPLAY are really awesome in other FF's it gets really repeptitive and annoying but in FF7 it didnt. and the storyline omg the story was OWNAGE the graphica amy not be good but..still. and the hidden messages it really does show the world today gov. sucking up earths energy to hgive us energy andTAKING MONN FOR it...money grubbing bastards...but yeah that should explain it not as indepth as valentine89 but still

Where there reads: why limits was good? Why materias are good? Why you liked that game was long enought?

And Hildegarde, half of your post is 'off topic'. You tell what games you have, not really reason why everybody likes it...
