what do you think is the best "type of materia"

Hmm... that's a really tough question!

I'd have to go with Command because of Enemy Skill, x2/x4 Cut and Mime.

I prefer the Magic Materia. Old school FF fan, so the Bolt/Ice/Fire combos are my favorites

I would probably have to go with magic. If it weren't for magic, you probably wouldn't be able to get through the game. Magic has your attacks, and heals. If it weren't for certian elements of magic you wouldn't be able to get through certian battles. If it weren't for heals, like Cure, then you would have to go by on potions, which would be hard, becuase if you were to run out of Gil, then you would be screwed!

Well I would go with the sorts of healing magic. But the thing is that you can use potions and other things instead, that type is still very usefull but not the best for me at least. if I had to choose I'd go with Summoning materia. it really helped alot especially since that's mainly what i had Vincent do when I used him. But overall for me I'd go with summoning materia.

I mentioned in a previous thread that if you had a Master Enemy Skill Materia if would be able to provide you with all the spells you'd need to complete the game.

Trine/Aqualung/Beta for your elemental attacks.
Bad Breath for all your status needs.
White wind for all your status recovery and curing needs.
Angel Whisper for all your revivication requirements.
And the Magic Hammer for regaining your much-needed Magic Points.
Matra Magic is a great all-enemy hitting spell, and one of the first ones you aquire, all for 8MP.
Then there are all the others I don't remember right at the moment.

Isn't it like Flare or something you learn from Ultima Weapon.....?

Shadow Flare you learn from Ultimate WEAPON, is pretty powerful yeah.

I think you can also learn Shadow Flare from the Dragon Zombies at the final areas of the Northern Crater, as well as the Pandora's Box enemy skill.

i think command for things like 4xhit, the only way to do more is through KOTR or omnislash, theres also mime and manipulate and the afore mentioned enemy skill

Support is easily the most useful. Final Attack and All being perhaps the most useful

yes you are right...support helps the most, but if you power go with summons...

I like using summons, but I had to go with magic. Curaga and regen were really useful, aswell as level3 magic, flare and ultima.

have to go with independent...it makes you stronger and it doesnt cost anything to use it. HP up MP up STRup Luckup, not to mention the fact you can double or cut your monster attacks in half. and more exp if i remember corectly.
