Aerith or Aeris?

i read somewhere that it was a translation error and her name is Aerith and not aeris

Yeah, it was a translation error...that's explained on an earlier page (I think the bottom of the first one). Her name is technically supposed to be Aerith, but we got Aeris for FFVII...so whatever, we know her by both names.

I voted Aeris mainly because that was what she was called in the original game and that is what i will remember her name to be forever

Because from a translation point of view "su" in Japanese can perfectly be either -s or th, and since she is Aeris in FFVII, that's what I call her.

But I do understand that some people call her Aerith because of this:

Personally, I call her Aeris simply because that's how she's known in the European version of FFVII - the version I play.

I honestly don't see why it really matters as to how people pronounce her name, she's still the same good ol' Aeris

I liked Aeris best. I used to think that whoever thought up Aerith had a serious lisp. Lolz. In any case, I played her by Aeris, so that's what I know her as.

I voted Aeris as this is what I've always called her. However I've also heard before that Aeris was the American/European version's name while Aerith is the Japanese version's name. Not too sure if this is true though. An interesting topic.

Aeris was a mistake made in SONY's translation.

I don't care which ever is fine. Although the forum I came from would have a fit if you called her Aeris. I never got what angered them so. The game I played called her Aeris.

The voice-overs call her Aerith, and in the newer Final Fantasy VII games, it's no longer Aeris. That should explain right there that it's Aerith, and not Aeris.
