Is it better than viii?

I have played viii and later discovered just as many people enjoyed it as vii! So my question is, is it better than viii? Is it worth buying pre-owned for £25?

I'd say it was just as good as VIII.

VIII had a far more original storyline and magic system.

Really though, VII has things that were better than VIII and vice versa.

I like both about the same though and yeh, it's definately worth buying though you can get it for a lot cheaper than £25. Try Amazon.co.uk or eBay.

I enjoyed 7 way much more...8's junction system and monster-leveling-with-you really made me...not enjoy it as much as I should have.

VII would probably give you a better idea of the series in general since VIII has a very different magic and summon system to the others, which affects the gameplay (in battle at least) quite considerably.
As to wether its as good? I'm not much of a fan of VIII myself, so.. Hmm. Lets put it like this, if you liked Squall theres a good chance like the main character in VII, which would probably make it quite an enjoyable game for you since you're more likely to find the plot engageing and, with the plot being a core part of any FF, that will probably make it good in your eyes and thus worth the time. Just giving you a heads up though - You can't stats-boost junction or use summons as easily, so that might make the game a little harder in comparison if you use those a lot, at least to begin with.

And, yeah. 25 squid is a definate rip off for an older PS game - you should try shopping around if you DO decide to get it.

Well... Both of them were great in terms of story line, but... VII was my first and I still have trouble ranking other higher than that one.

As for prices. I get mine from the internet. mainly amazon. I haven't been let down once and I'am currently getting Castlevania: Symphony of the Night... two copies. One for myself and the other for my cousin.

Buy FFVI too. But yeah, I feel FFVII is at least a little bit better, at least in the magic and storyline department. (and originality for FFVIII? I dunno...it seemed more messed up than original. I mean people are still arguing over who, let alone what, Ultimecia actually was)

You mean like how people argue who the real villain actually was in VII?

They both are ok games. FF VIII videos are better but I don't understand junction system. FF VII materia system is easy to master so FF VII turns pretty easy game. FF VIII summon/GF creatures are also better because they get levels and end of the gaem they can be pretty powerful. FF VIII gets my vote.

Both are good games, very good actually. But VIII gets my vote, ther's a differant magic system that's more finickey, but I find it more fun in the end, and I also like VIII's story alot more too, I beat VII in only 6 days. VIII took me months. The story is more love based in VIII and VII has less of it, so it's up to you there. Hope that helps a bit.

I prefer Final Fantasy VIII. I didn't finish VII because I got bored with it after a while. It had a nice storyline and cool characters but I just think VIII was just a better game all together. VIII was the first FF game I ever played so obviously it is going to be one of my favourites. The storyline was amazing and I loved all the characters. A few characters in VII got on my nerves and once Aeris was killed off, I just didn't want to play it anymore. I gave up and haven't played it since, maybe I'll start playing it again soon.

I liked both games. I would choose FF VIII over VII simply because the graphics were better, on the same system, I was just really disappointend in the polygonal graphics of VII. Also VII had a lot of underdeveloped characters and what drove me crazy was VIII started to do the same thing to, not telling you too much about them. But if you play through VII, and then through VIII, it makes more sense that the VIII characters would have a more shadowy past because of all that was going on with the Sorceress and shiz. VII was just bad work by the team that did the dialogue and storyline.

I dunno, both games are enjoyable, but I did like VIII more. I'd just say own them both.

If you ask me, 8's story was to centered around Squall. I prefer 7. But either way, It is worth getting yes.

Not to mention, Squall was based alot on GACKT.

I doubt there needs to have an answer to that...there was very little confusion there.
