I'll say FFVIII it got cool characters and great story line.

BTW why don't you guys make the same thread in FFVIII section and we'll see what will happen. See, you guys post it in FFVII section where all the FFVII's fan is around and the FFVIII's fan are away. That's not fair if you wanna my opinion and that's why FFVII is the winner till now!

In my opinion, I didn't really like VIII. I felt that VIII had a major change when it came to the gameplay. But it did have a good soundtrack.

FFVII had the most original character and the story line was great. The story line was never confusing. it was straight forward ad the more you play it the more you pick up until you can't pick up any more XD The Materia system was a nice touch, it wasn't complicated and it certainly wasn't annoying (like FFVIII draw tech). And the characters were simply superb. I mean you had a talking cat on a moogle that a ShinRa employee had made to spy on the gang! A canine/feline half breed (or a beast lol). A VAMPIRE! (Or close enough to). A failed cloning experiment and a bad mouth Pilot XD What more could you want?

I've vote for FF8..

'coz obviousLy it has more compLex move, much great appearances, a happy love story.. 'coz Rinoa and SquaLL is stiLL together 'tiL the end.. unLike in FF7Aerith died.. it's so dissappointing.. and I Love the GFs..

but I think FF7 got a more deep-storyLine 'coz everybody there has a story like.. Barret having Lost his famiLy b'coz of a fire and the shinra corp. that's why he hated Shinra.. Yuffie who's a ninja that steaLs materia 'coz their town needs it.. Aerith being an "ancient" so Sephiroth made CLoud to kiLL her.. Vincent has Lost his true Love so.. he sLept in a coffin many years.. Tifa.. being w/ CLoud since chiLd.. and so on..

One of the reasons that FFVII is so popular in the US is because it was the first game with 3D (I think). Or, at least, the first FF in 3D. In Japan, it's pretty much tied. I have to go with FFVIII, though. I've only played VII through 11 hours so far, and even though I like the world and such, VIII is still more compelling to me.

I really enjoy playing VII, but I'm a die-hard FFVIII player.

I thought VIII was better. Better storylines, better characters (save for Squall the crying emoweasel), better graphics, and better everything.

And cards, don't forget cards. They were fun.

I think FFVII is better then FFVIII. I like stroy better in VII then I do in VIII. But don't get me wrong, VII is a very good game. I just prefer VII.

FFVII Hands Down for me. VII just radiated endulgence, it sucked you in to it's storyline, plus, it consisted of different genres of 'cinema' throughout the 3-Disc's. I also enjoyed Cloud over Squall considering Squall to me is an annoyance and a complete loner (Well, I can't argue with that), so that also supports my decision. I have played VIII to an extent, I haven't finished it, I've gotten about 1/4 the way through Disc 3 and stopped, to re-play VII for the 'Only-God-Knows' Time.

Well, there you have it, My Decision, VII is FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR better!

I like VIII better. VII was good just not better in my opinion. I liked the idea of SeeD and how you're a student and have to pass the exam then you go off saving the world! I also enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I liked VII's characters but wasnt so fond of the storyline.
