The Ultimecia thing was vague and un-clear AND there was so little knowledge to analyze from there is no definate 'point of view' that has a good firm standpoint.

n/a | This comes down to pure likes and dislikes, which are different from person-to-person. Final Fantasy VII had the traditional Final Fantasy battle system and Final Fantasy VIII didn't. FFVIII made battling more of a challenge. If you think that's bad, I have no idea what's wrong with you. A game should never be easy. Storywise, Final Fantasy VIII wins there too--in my opinion, that is. Story comes with that extra thing called emotional connection. I didn't connect with VII, so I didn't find the story that compelling. VIII is rich with many different layers of plot and the characters aren't all one-dimensional like some people. Does Cloud even have a reason for being the way he is? No. He's just like that in a lame effort to make him seem badass. Truthfully, I always thought of Cloud as a crybaby. If you like story, challenge, and comedy, then Final Fantasy VIII is for you. If you like one-dimensions, generic "dark" plots, predictable plot events, and bad cosplay, then Final Fantasy VII is for you.

i liked ff viii mainly because the junction and limit break system was superior and the love connection between Squall and Rinoa was more romantic than vii's cloud and aeris. plus you can become invincible with holy wars and you can use aura stones to make limit breaks happen more.

n/a | There wasn't a set romance between any of the characters in Final Fantasy VII. Depending on how you play the game, the characters build different relationships. That's the affection system at work. I've gotten both Aerith and Tifa for the date.

| | As prementioned, VII is a better one to start out with, thus allowing you to fully utilize weird systems in the later series. Gameplay, story, and overall -- VII gets my vote without second thought. Graphics-wide VIII took a step up, as well in the FMV's. The story is great, and it's a pretty fun game, minus the junction system... wasn't a fan of that. If you haven't played VII yet, stop what you're doing and go buy it. VIII is a good game to have in the stock, however I enjoyed IX more than VIII. | ||||||||

| | If I didn't own FFVII still, and were looking for it to play or to have in my collection. I personally would pay almost anything under $100 =) Edit: Also, if I knew you couldn't get the damn thing on eBay, or have a EB GAMES store order it for $20 ;x | ||||||||
