Actually, Mike, it's got less graphical prowess than the PSX title.
To answer your question, no. There is absolutely nothing you can do to make the game's graphics look better. Keep in mind that it was designed poorly for Windows 95-based systems. There's no way to make an old game suddenly look crisp if it wasn't designed to do so. Sorry, mate. ^_^;; |

i have one of those RTV/VEG devices that allow me to hook my ps2 up to my computer, and i notice when viewing in the AV mode, it's pretty blurry and the renders are just ugly, but with the S-Video setting its much more clear, and everything looks like it did when i play it regularly on the PS2 and a television.
this may not help, but depending on what kind of video cables you monitor outputs to, may be an issue? |

I got the reunion patch working but it is all pixely outside of battle when your walking him around and also nothing is changed during battle.
http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/3...ptastic9cy.jpg Got the models but somethin is still wrong EDIT: Got it to look better but I still get the grids even after I followed the FAQ http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/486/craptastic7ys.jpg Last edited by Eric1987; 01-28-2006 at 04:18 PM. |

Hey, man, I don't really know what else you can do. If the game doesn't have the graphics for it then you are just going to have to deal with what you got. I personally would rather have the bad graphics over the gridsquares. I just ordered FFVI recently and should hopefully be getting the game soon. I hope that I don't have all the same problems as you do. If I find a way to fix the problems when I get mine then I will definately post it here.

I'm...Going to run a test of sorts. I have a hunch.
Edit: Alright, I'm pretty sure it's as I thought. If you want it to look "crisp", you're going to have to go into your FFVII configuration and set the resolution to 640 x 480 (Quarter Screen) and just deal with the small screen. The thing is that the prerendered backgrounds and movies are only 320 x 240, and if you stretch them over a screen that's at a higher resolution (800 x 600+) things will look bad. You may be able to set your resolution to 640 x 480 (or 800 x 600). However, I haven't bothered to find a way to do that (Windows XP preferences don't let me go below 800 x 600). If you somehow get it to do that, then you won't have to use that 640 x 480 (Quarter Screen). I think. Here's a screenshot of what quarter view will probably look like (WARNING, CONTAINS END OF DISC 1 SPOILERS): http://save-point.net/switch.jpg I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on the subject, and I'm actually half-expecting someone like Merlin to come in and say otherwise...So feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

uh oh, everytime S gets a hunch, someone ends up in the ER. I hope I don't have these same problems when my game gets here. I would hate to think that this brand new almost top of the line video card can't help older games look better. Let me know what you find out, S. I tried searching other places on the net for solutions to this problem, but didn't find any topics about it at all.

Argh. You are right Mike-it IS the same game. Just a hint: go to www.download.com and search for Final Fantasy VII. You'll see two things: a battle demo and a tool to make old games look cripser. Get the latter.
From what I understand, you cannot change control configuration and a Gaming magazine a while back figered that you almost NEED a controller! Meh.

I just got my game today and I have that same patch. I see no problems with the graphics. They are just like the Playstation graphics. The only problems I have are that my laptop is widescreen. When I watch the game in fullscreen everyone looks a little fatter. You don't really notice it after a couple minutes of playing though. The only other issue I have is that everytime a movie is played there is a slight pause. But that is because the movies are on the discs and the disc drive has to start spining and find the movie. none of these issues however affect the game or make it annoying for me. I still am loving it and having a blasy blast playing.

Wow good ol' FFVII for the PC. That takes me back. I have WIndows XP now, so I haven't really bothered with it. Though thanks for reminding me about that Reunion Patch, I remember when it was first conceived and saw the first couple of beta screens,. and now it's done.
First things first. GET THE 1.02 PATCH That's your big problem right there ![]() Qhimm's forums are the best place to go for all the FF PC related stuff. Here's their big FAQ page with links to their 1.02 patch. http://forums.qhimm.com/viewtopic.php?t=2670 I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling FFVII and then applying the 1.02 patch THEN the reunion patch (wow that looks mighty nice) Believe me, when I was running this on my crappy computer, the 1.02 patch made a BIG difference in presentation. Though the pre-rendered backgrounds are stll going to be rather blah looking. They're low-res 2D so deal with it. Oh yeah and a big drawback of FFVII PC is the horribly lo-res Movie files. FFVIII was ported to the PC MUCH better (as it included a lot of Japan only stuff like the Pocketstation Minigame) Last edited by Cain Highwind; 02-01-2006 at 05:44 PM. |

I think it is not very difference between PSX and PC about graphic. My bigger problem when I played on PC was sound.... I was totally degraded by sound. On PSX sound is more more better than on PC version.
