Who is the 'grey voice'?

When Cloud lands in the cathedral after the fight with the techno-soldier in reactor 5, he has a conversation in his mind with someone. Does anyone have any theories on who this person is? I have thought it through and can't think of any candidates at all. The person obviously knows Cloud (back then, you could get away with just scraped knees.) and is obviously a friend, so it's not Sephiroth or Jenova speaking through Jenova's cells. Anyone care to theorise?

I'm guessing it was Aeris when she was trying to wake him up after the fall.

Yeah, there's no mystery about it. It's Aeris.
And maybe that scraped knees phrase was just an expression. =P
Besides, how do you know it was in his mind? The black screen? Nope. It wasn't in his mind. They just censored it for some reason. =P

Personally, I think it just was one of Cloud's memories re-lapping itself through Cloud's brain because it can't be Aeris because the voice says 'You'd get away with scraped knees' and Aeris met Cloud once before. I think it's a memory of Tifa or his Mother.

Its a memory shared with him and Tifa, if memeory serves they went to Mount nibel and Cloud and tifa fell from a height, and cloud only got scrapped knees where Tifa was badly injured.

Now dont quote me on that, i havent played the game in awhile so my memory is shite in regards to short incidents.

the person who is talking is zack areis old boy friend and one of cloud's best friends who was also in soilder. this is why cloud is having all of those flashbacks because they were mostly all of zacks. if you want to know more there is a secret ending/ cinimatic movie of how cloud got into soilder and how he got the buster sword.

Spoiler: See the buster sword really isint his its Zack's and zack gave it to him. if you want to know how to get the special ciniamtic here it is so listen up. This will explain to you how cloud ended up back in midgar with zack's sword. After cloud find's himself,( you know after the thing in mideel where he is unconsious), after you wake up go to the Shinra Mansion again and head to the basement. As you enter the library area you'll have a flashback to how Cloud ended up back in midgar with Zack's sword.

I think it's cloud's subconsicous mind of himself as a little kid like at the temple of ancients. Cloud himself is the only one who knows his own past like getting scrapped knees. I don't think tifa knows all that much of his own past.

maybe it'll be explained in Advent CHildren or Crisis Core.

talking about since i haven't played FF7
for a while now. But I'm pretty sure
that It was Aeris. But all those other
ones, the voice that speaks with Cloud
throughout the game that is, is Zack

Most of the grey quotes throughout the game are Zack, or at least would appear to be, as Cloud steals his personality, however there was a theory going around that it could be Sephiroth... I personally am not sure... Strange.. I must seek out this knowledge lol

Just letting you all know, the grey quotes are Clouds Inner child. you know, the little Cloud wearing the white shirt Tifa talks to in Clouds mind when they both fall into the lifestream in Mideel?

Same guy that shouts at Cloud not to give the black materia to Sephiroth at the temple of the Ancients. Thats how he knows about the scraped knees (which Zack COULDN'T know about) and how he knows Cloud so well. He IS Cloud.

Jeez...Zacks only in the game in one flash back cut scene.
