Nope, I don't think so, you see FFVII was a more 'modern' Final Fantasy where things were really different from the older generation (castles and lots of caves and crystals). They tried to get that back with FFIX, and now again with FFXII. FFXII does seem a bit medieval to me, but it's just my opinion, and I'm almost positive that FFXII is NOT a sequal to FFVII. OK? OK.....

Final Fantasy 12 is a game on its own and is not a realated to final fantasy 7 in anyway but being made by the same company and shares the same game play with killing monsters and thing to that extent.
