Haha... just as i suspected the game is mediocre. You people who thought that you were getting an amazing game were kidding yourself. The only reason you would ever have a reason to buy it is that you are a fan of FFVII. If you buy it you will be supporting mediocre side-games in the future. So please just rent this one.

Back in Japan, I heard that this game was kind of a dissapointment to FF fans. I think it seems pretty good reguardless of the reviews, but I think I'm going to rent it, then after I play it, I'll decide if I want to buy the game or not.

Anyways, I think the game looks good because its something new for Square to starts a shooting game and Vincent was one of my favorite FFVII characters in the game. And we can find out more about Vincent's past and all that stuff.

Come on guys, this can't be anywhere near as bad as FFX-2.
While a huge example of milking a franchise it was tolerable.
(Actually FF10 was more popular than FF7 in the US, so you know).

Actually, Final Fantasy 10 was more popular in Japan, too. It was ranked as the number one game in that magazine poll that Fuzz posted a link to in General Gaming a while back. You could probably go find it still.

While I never played Final Fantasy 10-2, I heard from some that it was retarded, and from others that it was actually kind of fun. I heard it's a lot like Sailor Moon, too, with all the accessorizing and shit that went on. From the sounds of it, Final Fantasy 7: Derge of Cerberus probably would appeal to me more than that. Although I'm not always a huge fan of shoot 'em ups. On occasion, though, and with the right characters, maybe...

And maybe I would just rent it, like Lionheart suggested. If I had a PS2.

I personally can not wait for this game!! I love Vincent and I think this game is gonna be good. Even if it isn't an AWESOME game... I'm still gonna buy it. I like FFVII and I like Vincent. So therefore, my money goes into things I like. And if I end up REALLY not liking it(doubt it) I could just return it. But I still think that its gonna be a good game. Yay!

Wow, there are sure alot of bad reviews...But thats not gonna stop me from buying this game. Its looks totally sweet and my second favorite character from Final fantasy is in there I thought that the graphics should get like a 9 but some of the reviews i read and saw gave it like 7 or 6.

Am I the only one who has played this game? We sold several copies at Gamestop, however, there wasn't too many reserves for it. Final Fantasy XII on the other hand...

Anyway. The graphics aren't bad at all, especially the cutscenes. The gameplay so far isn't too bad, either. I mean yeah, it's a shooting style game, but who cares? It's going to be the only one in the series that is like this, so we may as well take it for what it is.

I've only put about an hour in on the game so far, but tomorrow, I plan on putting a nice dent in it.

Back to the rumors about the game and all of that. I heard from several people who came into Gamestop that the game was supposed to be very similar to Devil May Cry in terms of controls. I quickly found out that they were wrong.

I've read a few posts in here of people bashing Dirge, yet they haven't even given it a shot yet. Don't go by what the reviews say. Also, when Square Enix looks at the sales records for Dirge and they see that several people just went out and bought it, they aren't going to be inspired to make another shooter. They're going to take it as people are still interested in FFVII.

Think about it.

Dirge is the first (actual game) to come out that has anything to do with FFVII since FFVII itself. I think there's alot more than just wanting to see if people will buy another shooter if they make one. Also, there are multiple reasons to play this game. Since you're all Final Fantasy fans (if not, then I'm curious as to why you're still reading this), don't you want to know more about Vincent's past? Or would you much rather read it on GameFAQs?

I mean, if you don't buy it or rent it, that's cool. I hope you'll enjoy the giant gap in the timeline that you'll be missing when they make references to characters from Dirge in future FFVII installments.

As far as I'm concerned (with what I've played of the game already), so far, so good. The game's definitely got a different feel to it. Coming from a fellow gamer and not some egotistical prick from some random video game review site who picks apart every tiny little flaw, it's a fun game.

Again, play it before you bash it. Here are some actual reviews for FFX....

You can't base this game strictly off of reviews...

And you can't just ignore that many bad ones either.

When SE don't have the best track record of making non-rpg games and the fact that the compilation so far has been average at best added to the poor reviews, what are you supposed to think?

No... not completely but the average review for FFX was over a 9.0 out of 10, and the average review for Dirge of Cerberus was far below that so thats what i based it on. I didnt just base it off one single review. It almost seems like its not even worth a rent, but only since its from Final Fantasy im going to rent it anyways.

Ok, this game is coming out for PS2 on the 15th of August. I dont know about you but Vincent is my favorite FFVII character so i'm hella excited. Anybody know anything about the game other than what the reviews have told me. Apparently he can use his limit breaks and turn into the demon things. But can you control him???
dude he's my favorite character too and not to be rude but if you were a true fan you would know that the demon things are called galian bast and chaos but if you can tell me who are you're second and third favorite characters ff xii, ff xii advent children, and of doc.

Wow, I still can't believe Square is coming up with a shoot-em-up game about.... a "secret character" this is a HUGE shock for me because Square is famous for their turn taking battle system and they make THIS! Well it's gonna be either really good or really bad. I'm gonna buy it anyways. I'm also going to finally buy the ffvii game and the movie. I'm a huge fan of ffvii. I don't really know why. Probably because I am a huge fan of Sephy. Also I borrowed ffvii from my friend to beat. I'm gonna be buying a lot lately. OH WELL. despite some people putting it down. I'm gonna put some trust in Square that this will be really good. I'll post again when I beat it if it's good or not. That's enough typing for me.

I'm also excited about this game. I was looking around the web and I found out that all the characters in final fantasy 7 make an aperance. Which mean Tifa! I want to know if the game is any good though.

Hmm...Beaten it already. Not 100% complition, but I'll be damned if I'm going to fight Weiss the Immaculate with Cait Sith.

Over all it was an enjoyable play through, not too short or too long, had a hell of a lot of plot interspersed between action. Some of the boss fights are a little boring and one sided, but generally the game play is fun once you get the hang of the camera and the aiming functions of the different guns. The hand to hand is fine if you can manage to get Vince pointed in the right direction (air combo's are your friend there)

Omega Weapon is awesome.

Only really unfortunate thing about the game is Cait Sith and the disturbingly open ended relationship between Vincent and Shelke which leaves room for fans to come up with the gothic lolita scenerio of their choice. But then thats japan all over right now.

Over all defiently a rent and if you're a fan of FFVII its a buy. Though I might suggest waiting a bit for the price to come down. A good game, but maybe not $50 worth unless you've some expereince with FPS and enjoy that style of game.

uuuh CAN YOU CONTROL VINCENT??
<just looked a couple of videos>
THIS GAME LOOKS AWESOME!!!
Yes you can control Vince,
And whatever some of you people heard, it's WRONG
You walk around as vince, and you do hand to hand combos and jump around and do whatever in this mode. You press a button (probably r1 or l1) and you aim your gun and shoot. You use Materia to power up your gun, pretty much like ffvii. So far I have seen handguns, shotgun, and a machine gun but that's so far. I am REALLY looking forward to getting this game or renting it. It looks pretty sweet from movies and the guide. So drop those reviews you are reading, grab the few dollars it takes to rent it, AND TRY IT BEFORE YOU START SAYING THIS STUFF! <takes a drink of soda> ok ok I'm good now
