Anyone else find this kind of... NUTZ

Okay, well I'm trying to get all of the Final Fantasies cause I gotta have a taste of every one of them and I planned on getting these all for Christmas. Usually, I like having the latest of Final Fantasy, so what I see when I researched VI I just got to fuss about.

Do you find it crazy that a game (Final Fantasy VI Advance) only released at the beginning of last year is sold out/discontinued and you have to pay like $40 But It Now or bid ferociously against 10 other people on eBay just to get it when it would be like $20 if they were still selling it. I mean, I hear lots of fans say that Final Fantasy VI is considered a favorite of the series and practically no one liked Final Fantasy V, so I got to wonder why V Advance is still be sold instead of VI Advance when it was released a year earlier (although none of them should be sold out to begin with since they're still recent)?

So I might just get Anthology or pray for a DS remake.

STEPS:
1. Buy PS1 or PS2!
2. Buy Final Fantasy Anthology
3. Play BOTH FFV and FFVI
4.???
5. PROFIT

Sorry.

But anyways, yes just go ahead and get Final Fantasy Anthology, it's both V and VI, unless you want the handheld for traveling.

That IS totally retarded. FFVI is a great game, I've never played it on GBA but the original SNES one rocked and the Anthology remake is basically the same. I dunno why but I blame the DS. I bet they discontinued on selling the FFVI for GBA because they thought it would divert a portion of potential DS buyers. I wouldn't be surprised if they re-released it on DS and made the second screen full of useless crap like item selection or something. People always say on this site: It's all about the money when a question like "why don't they.....". In this case it may be true because In the long run selling more DS's (or selling a DS remake) will make more money in the long-run. But of coarse this is just one far fetched plot...

Anyways if your not willing to pay that amount just get Anthology, Its really good and with memory cards you can have basically unlimited saves.

Only $40?
It's worth at least $1000.
I hate that it's been discontinued so fast here myself, but it's my personal favourite game and one of the strongest reasons I keep that NA SNES I imported so long ago. For me it's the highest pinnacle of Final Fantasy as a franchise. I really can't put any price on what it means to me personally. Not nuts at all.

40 isn't a bad price at all, seeing that Saturday I saw a copy of VII for over 100 and it was the greatest hit version. I agree with Silver on this one, it IS worth the money. go for it, you will not be disappointed.

$40 really isn't that much. I know that I've had to pay a lot more than that for some games that were hard to find. Also maybe you should check out a gamestop near where you live. I know that there used to be a copy of Final Fantasy VI advance for less than $30 where I live. I personally have the Anthology version. You can get it new for less than $20. I'm sure the GBA version is better, but if you want to save money, I would just get Anthology.

Well, it's not actually the $40 I find crazy, but the fact that they discontinued it only after about a year from it's release. Plus, Gamestops around here pretty much have ridden themselves of GBA and PS1 games I think and have gone forward with all the next-gen stuff.

lol yeah, i remember when they still sold snes games at gamestop and all the classic final fantasy games whent for $70 or higher, i remember saving up all that money to get VI, it was well worth it.

$40 is nothing, especially for a remake/ port.

Wasn't a year after the release of the GBA version a lot closer to the death of the system? And copies of V are probably still being sold because it didn't sell as well so there are just leftovers available, maybe?

I'd just wait until the DS versions came out, myself (technically I'd just emu, but w/e). If DS remakes don't happen, I'm sure there'll be some kind of revolt...>_>

FFA Sucks total ASS though.

I've been contemplating whether to get these games myself. I might get V because I've heard the translation is really really good (I've only played the Fan Translation for SNES). But I know the SECOND I buy it, they're going to announce FFV DS.

With FFVI, I'm really torn I'd love to try the GBA version of my favorite FF (and to play it again as it's been a good few years, and I don't have an SNES anymore), but I have the feeling I'll feel unsatisfied in the same way FFIV Advanced was, and again yearn for a DS remake.

Well, as for FFA sucking ass, I don't really think so. Sure, FFV doesn't have the best story, nor the best soundtrack and graphics, but the overall gameplay and job system is just too damn fun to think about anything else. Also, I enjoyed the characters of the game.

But a FFIV/FFV DS Remake "might" take some time, as FFIV isn't even released yet. When FFIV is released, it'll go about 3 months, then they'll announce FFV DS, which'll take about 1-2 years. So let's say 1 1/2 years. You wanna wait that long just because you don't wanna spend 15-30$? Trust me, buy it FFV got the best job-system (and almost the only, except spin-offs and FFIII), and I gotta say that the FF Job system is quite much the most fun part of the series, or so I tend to believe.

People mostly complain about the PSX ports because they were incredibly lazy in their creations. They basically slapped the ROM onto the disks and it turned out badly because of it.

It doesn't have to be announced for them to be working on it already. Plus, I could easily see them skipping over FFV and heading straight for FFVI DS. Personally, I would wait rather than spend that money on a shoddy product that will be made better later (it's not like there aren't other games available to play in that time regardless of how long it is).

Basically. Plus FFV PSX's horrid script and messy translation.

I think since he's from Norway, he's referring to the fact that it's not out in Europe yet. Still, it's been out in Japan for a while, and that's all the reason S-E needs. In fact TGS is next month, and I'm SURE we'll hear something.

I don't get it, what's "wrong"? I mean FFV is definitely one of the better Job Systems in FF next to Tactics.
