Can someone help me? I have a problem of big value here (atleast to me ). When back in Narshe (after the party split and all that), Kefka attacks you with a dozens of troops and you need to reach to Kefka through a small maze before you get killed. I always manage to die there. Someone with a good tactic I can use here?

94 | There are two main ways to do this: (A) This might take one or two tries, but I find it works the best. Form one powerhouse group equipped with your strongest attacks (I find that Gau's "Telstar" rage works particularly well). This group's job is to defeat everyone. Place it in the middle, running back and forth (WITH SPRINT SHOES!) in front of Banon. Have the other two groups as "backups" capable of dealing with one or two battles if necessary, and place them as close to Banon as possible, just in case your powerhouse group is already busy when another enemy attacks. (B) Create three groups of equal power, and when Kefka's forces begin to advance, move the groups into strategic places in the rocky area. Move them strategically enough so that they totally block the enemies from reaching Banon. DO NOT move them from these places. You should also be sure each group has a way to bring members back to life, or else you will find one group dead really easily. Then, all you have to do is take whatever comes at you. When you've sat there for a minute or two with no enemies advancing, you can take it as a sign that you've killed everyone and can then advance on Kefka.

40 | Thanks a lot, but according to you, the troops have a limited number. When I play they just seems to be popping out all the time :/

94 | It seems like there's a lot. They do eventually end though, trust me. I can't remember how many there are, but they do eventually end. Also, be rather careful of the one running back and forth in front of Kefka. He's a totally different monster who, although not difficult, is more challenging than his peers. Edit: Or at least in the SNES and PSX versions this is true. Last edited by clockworkbutterfly; 01-15-2008 at 02:53 PM. Reason: clarity

94 | It's entirely possible that they made it an infinite stream of troops in the GBA version, but I highly doubt it. If you're fighting with my strategy "A" above, it does seem like forever to get through the troops. Though I may be mistaken, I think the troops come in two colors: brown and green. As I recall (it's been ages since I've played this), they begin with the green ones and then the brown ones attack you. This is about the halfway point in the attack. I will also emphasize that once it winds down, be sure to wait for a minute or two to be sure no one else attacks. I have thought the fight was over before when there were really two or three more guys out there. Be careful and good luck!

94 | To be honest, I can't remember. After the first time I played this, I tended to have Edgar, Sabin, and Terra 5-15 levels higher than they should have been at this point because of the Lete River leveling trick, which helped a lot in dealing with Kefka. As I recall, Edgar was about Level 15 or so when I beat Vargas on Mt. Kolts, so I'd say level 18-19+ would be a good range. If you didn't save your game in Narshe, then you have time outside to level some characters a bit if you need to.

40 | Hmm... It seems that I need to prepare for the fight with Kefka as well. He seemed pretty rough. Leveling a little bit would be a good idea as well.

94 | He's not too hard if you have one really strong group. If you have three even-powered groups, it can be challenging. I suggest bringing Terra or Celes to face him, since magic helps. Also, if you have the Rune Edge equipped on either of them, note that it drains their MP when they get critical hits. That might be useful info.

| Secret mod of the COD | i cant remember but cant you also return to bannon to have him heal your main party at anypoint in the post battles? that would be a good option prior to the kefka fight. if not i seem to remember a save point sleeping bags and tents would be useful. but its also been along time since i have played this part so i dont remember honestly. good luck

94 | I'm not sure if Banon will heal you or not during the fight if you talk to him. I do know that the save point vanishes ones the battle starts (at least in SNES/PSX), and doesn't appear again until Kefka's gone, Terra flies off, and you get control again.
