what's with shadow and relm?

Well I have played the game now for more than once and I really love it. Its my sec fav game, but there's one thing I never fully understood and that whas shadow and relm. The kind of know each other. Especially since interceptor want to play with relm but I never understood what it exactly whas. I am dutch so maybe my english isn't good enough to understood the full story between those 2.

Could someone please explain me?

If you watch the dreams that Shadow has you'll be able to see the evidence but he has to be in your party for it to work.

Yeah Square never straight up stated this..but there is enough evidence to show it. One thing that i thought was interesting is watching the trailer for the PS version of FF VI. During the part where you see Shadow if you slow down the movie to the moment the bright light goes off you might see something special

Also note that Shadow and Relm are the only two players in the game who can equip the Memento Ring which descriptions says "A mother's departed love"

I believe it is fair to say Shadow is Relm's father. all the clues lead to this conclusion and why do you think intercepter warms up to her so quickly when shadow said he doesn't like anyone other than himself.

surprised. I claim that FF6 is my favourite game,
and yet I know nothing about these things.

I wonder what else I don't know.

SO if relm IS shadow's daughter, do you think they
find out at the end? And who do you think is the
mother? hmmmm.

Well during the ending Shadow does mention something about "finding family" or something along those lines from what I remember. It's been awhile so I can't think exactly what he says

. As for the mother, I think it would be either Strago's daughter, making Strago Shadow's father in law (or just the dad of his baby's mama

), or possibly Strago is Shadow's father and the mom is some random woman from Thamasa.

Wow, I never knew that about Shadow and Relm. Interesting I must say because I really didn't see that coming in the game. So then, Relm's mom must be Strago's daughter because Relm is Strago's grandaughter right? That would probably be the most logical answer explaining about the situation between Relm, Shadow, and Strago I guess.

I figured as much cyrus :/

I guess there is no real blatant evidence that relm
is shadow's daughter - they just leave us with some
good clues. But I have to say I believe it now...
And both characters being able to equip the memento
ring can't be mere coincidence.

The mother will be the woman you see find him when he ends up in Thamasa in one of his dreams.

As for Strago, I think he's more of an adoptive grandfather since the mother died and Shadow left. I don't think he's actually related.

As for the ending (SPOILERS):

In the SNES version at least, I think he dies. While the others are escaping, he just seems to sit down and act as if he's ready to die now or something.

SHADOW'S DREAMS

At the end of the fifth dream Clyde (or Shadow) is shown walking away from the house that Relm and Strago live in, leaving behind his only daughter.

You're right Palazzo, Shadow does presumably die at the end of the game. He commits suicide, after telling Interceptor to get going, he says "Baram! I'm going to stop running! I'm going to begin all over again." Then he is noticably the only character not on the airship at the very end of the game.

Anyone wanting some good info on Shadow (or Clyde Arrowny

), I'd check this out. Also, for the ending look at this, as it shows the ending in it's entirety. If you view the "incomplete ending" at that site though, notice that the background to both Shadow and Relm's portraits are in the same section of Thamasa.
