Started playing Final Fantasy 6 again. I have never beat it. I just kinda stopped playing it like...a year ago for no real reason. I just got out of that castle of Kefkas where all of those summons were kept. (ifrit, shiva, ect)
And I'm curious. What are the strongest weapons in the game? And what is the strongest summon? Oh and how do I get them >.>

Well there are no definite ultimate weapons..but basically all the best weapons in the game you can't obtain where you are right now. Don't want to spoil things for ya but I'll be sure to inform you where everything is when the time is right.

Right now you CAN get the Atma Weapon which is one of the most powerful swords. You get it in the sealed cave which you should be getting to soon. There's a switch you must press somewhere in the second half of the dungeon, which opens a little room with 4 chests, Atma Weapon is in there.

As for the espers..they really don't play a huge role in battles. Due to the fact that they can only be used once in battle..espers main roles are for learning spells and their stat boots. A select few are quite powerful though. Some do have good status change/healing effects too Some of the most powerful are Bahamut, Odin/Raiden, Crusader, and Alexander. Once again though you can't receive any of these yet.

The Strongest Weapon Is The Illumina Sword Which You Get In The World Of Ruin By Having Locke Open The Item Shop In Narshe, You'll Get The Ragnarok Sword (Which Is As Powerful As The Illumina Sword) When You Get The Ragnarok Sword You Must Go To The Colluseum And Bet The Ragnarok, Then You'll Get It, And I Guess The Strongest Esper Is Crusader, Which You Get By Defeating The Eight Dragons
Eight Dragons Locations
One Of Them (Easiest) Is The Ice Dragon Which Is At Narshe (At The Top Of The Mountain) Second Is The Wind Dragon, It's Located In Mt. Zozo. Third, Pearl Dragon, It's In The Fanatics Tower. Fourth, Fire Dragon, It's In The Star Shaped Cave. Fifth, Earth Dragon, This Dragon Is Inside The Opera House. Sixth, Lightning Dragon, This Dragon Is In Kefka's Tower. Seventh, Doom Dragon, This Dragon Is Also Located In Kefka's Tower. And Finally The Eight Dragon, Water Dragon, This Dragon Is Located In The Underground Castle, To Get To The Underground Castle You Must Use Figaro Castle. This Is Probably The Hardest Dragon To Find, Once You Find The Underground Castle You Must Go To The Throne Room And You MUST Stand In The Throne To The Right, Once You Do That Take 5 (Five) Steps, Once You Do That Press The A Button, You'll Hear a Sound, Go To The Room To The Right And You'll See Something Sparkling (Don't Worry About That) GO Down The Stair And You Will Find The Dragon,When You Defeat It You Will Get Crusader Also You'll Also Find a Statue That Looks Like Celes In Her Opera Clothes Talk To Her (If You Want) And The Esper Odin Will Transform Into Raiden.

isn't there a shield or a spell that you have to choose between and the ragnarok at that point? or am i thinking of something else.

You can choose Ragnarok Magicite, or the Ragnarok Sword in Narshe, in the weapon shop, in the WoR, when you have Locke in your party, yup....

Now, if your thinking about a shield, the Cursed Shield turns into the best shield in the game, depending on if you use it. As well, that is your decision, but, don't expect it to be easy, you have to have the Cursed Shield on for 255 battles, which can be quite a pain in the ass. Cursed Shield, like Ragnarok, is obtained in the WoR, pretty late I might add.

the cursed sheild teaches you the magic ultima once you turn it to the paladin sheild
the paladin shield i believe halfs and absorbes all elements also increases you evasion and magic evasion by a massive amount.
one of the best helmets in the game is called the thornlet it can damage the enemy whenver you recieve damage i believe. i think almost everyone can use it.
snowmuffler is the most powerful armor defense wize and only mog can equipt this item(besides umaro but you cant change his stuff and he already has it on). you obtain it in the colusium i believe also dont remember how to get it though.
ragnorok sword how you get it is explained above. has a even amount of damage is tied for most powerful weapon in the game. definatly not the best. the sword has a added effect of flare attacted to it with max attack damage.
illumina- another sword tied for strongest but in fact can be percieved as the best weapon in the game. increases the magic and phisical evasion of a character by 50 each and has the holy added affect with a energy drain effect that makes criticals happen 100% of the time as long as energy is available.

all diffrent types of imp armor.- this armor has a vary low defense but high magic defence.
along with the imp spear that you can get.
although if your character is a imp with all diffrent types of imp armor on the amount of defence increases.
for example you can have 215 magic defence and 19 defence normally with all imp armor on but wile a inp you will have 255 armor and 214 magic defence the imp spear is a few damage off of perfect.
