Setzer Is A Good Character I Always Put Him In My Team Of Four, At First His Stats Are Low But With The Right Espers He Could Become Even As Strong As Umaro.

Setzer Gabbiani was a very cool character. I would not say that he has a more charming personality than Gambit (Remy beats him in that category, as far as I'm concerned) but they are somewhat similar. Setzer is a bit more serious, if I know my stuff, and I remember correctly. I guess both can be pretty serious, though.

Setzer was also the source of the air ship in this game, so that definitely earns him some points. His introduction, the scene where you fly to Vector, and the scene where you escape from Vector are some of the coolest and most memorable scenes in the game, for me.

I have to say that I did not use him much, either, though I wanted to quite often. I just didn't want to put up with his mostly inferior physical attacks (they did less damage than, say, Edgar, Sabin, Terra or Locke's.) He was not actually one of my favorite characters, either (Locke is my favorite Final Fantasy character period) but he was definitely cool. Anyhoo...

I wasn't a huge fan of Setzer myself, loved his personality, but loved some of the other characters attacks and other things better, if that makes any sense. Like I would unload a Bum Rush on an enemy before a gamble, etc. His personality, while cool, was overshadowed by his lack of a decent skill, because half of the time, you would get that dumb curative bunny, which would only cure like 100 HP. Other times, weak skills like Chocobop would happen, and the really unlucky (which leads to "Game Over") Jokers Doom. Granted, there were a few good skills, Royal Flush, H-Bomb, but, they would land few and far between. I dunno, I like being guaranteed good damage rather than gamble my luck on slots.

Personality-wise Setzer was a badass, but as others have pointed out, he was kind of lacking in battle. Slots sucks, but you can always give him a Relic (I can't remember its name) and have him use GP Rain instead, which was nice near the end of the game. The Fixed Dice, as I recall, were pretty sweet as well. (Sometimes.) I don't usually use him as one of my main characters, but he's a good backup, I guess.

he was my second favorite character jsut becuase of the fact that he could use the fixed dice. i usually equipted him with all the imp armor then gave him the fixed dice as damage.
never really cared much about slots either and he was a good developed character in my oppinion so i think he was cool.

I thought he was a really original character. I didn't like the way you pretty much stole his airship from him and seized control of it through a double sided coin. I can't remember the name of the weapon but at the end of the game, I didn't use him much but it was alright because I had a deck of cards with like Death status built in which was cool because it tended to work a fair bit, so it was easy to level in Setzer's Tower.

Setzer is my favorite male character in FFVI. Airship, gambler? What more could a girl want?

Seriously people, why on earth would you use his Slot ability after getting to the World of Ruin? And who the hell would waste time with GP Rain?

You haven't tapped into his true potential.

Consider this combination, if you will:

Relics: Genji Glove + Offering
Weapons: Fixed Dice + Dice

The results? Eight rolls per turn, with the Fixed Dice getting VERY high numbers a lot. I've one-shotted many bosses along the way with him doing a simple attack turn. Nobody can touch that. NOBODY!

I think I need to try to one-shot Kefka!

Besides, he is a bad-ass character. I love his character!

I prefer Setzer to Locke. I will use him in my final four for when I complete the game.

Skill wise, he fails... thats for sure. The slots are too random for reliability when the slots are useful (as in, the World of Balance and early World of Ruin)

as psiko said, he has a nice weapon combo come the end of the game, and as genji gloves and the offering offer the most damage output out of any character... you just kind of resort to your favorite

Me personally, I found his equipment selection (outside of the dice) was just... like everybody else. I don't use him a whole lot, but I am yet to beat the game without just sweeping the floor with vanish/doom until the Final Fights, and then I just kind of mowed everybody down with Sabin. I am still on the quest to beat this game without using the vanish/doom trick (thus making the game slightly harder until I get genji glove/offering)

Thing is... that Setzer combo that psiko mentioned is just another way to reach the same ends. You pair that relic combo on a few different characters and you get the same output... handy dandy Atma weapon/Scimitar and other things, Illumina and so forth, Sabins claws... stuff like that

I dunno, I think there are enough other characters that outshine Setzer IMO that I wouldn't play him.

My Favorite Video Character. Ever.(emphasis on the period)

I loved him in FFVI. I never don't use him. I use Slot pretty much though out the whole game. It isn't very logical, I know this, but I enjoy the move very much. I also tend to tank him up, since he starts with high Defense. He overall is a very unique character, that often is portrayed differently to people. Some see him as a womanizer, some don't for instance. It's hard to tell with Edgar taking that cake all the time. He also has a fair amount of mystery to him, which is always appealing. Mosyt of all I like his stance on li
