Since I personally think I don't have enough love toward Final Fantasy VI, I started to clear it on the PC. With an emulator. Only, I'm playing the hacked version that Cain Highwind made. It's pretty fun, but I know I have the version that came BEFORE the final version, which has the strange shop glitch in Mobliz, where I am right now.
I'm glad I made some progress in the game, and I chose the Sabin scenario last, so that I had the short during scenarios out of my system. Anyway...I'm kinda enjoying the game (GEE, did I just say that?!) I'm gonna clear the game and hope I don't fall asleep this time, which DID happen with the PSX version. I'm feeling the game pretty well and hope to start liking it as I did any other FF. Small hooray for emulation! And I'll play the GBA version as soon as it's released to tweak my interest for Final Fantasy VI. Does anyone care about me liking it more than before? Or did I just post this for myself ? ![]() |

Well.....yeah, that's what I'm doing right now. I'm currently at the ending, YAY!! And I still have to retrieve Locke, and get Gogo and Umaro. I'm left with 4 dragons to slaughter and then I'll head off and kick Kefka's puny butt.
I must say, I'm finaly starting to see this game as an actual GOOD game. (Huh? Wait...am I feeling okay?) I'm liking the characters' stories and backgrounds. I'm still never gonna say that FFVI is better than FFVII, but it moved up a couple of ranks. Thank god for this nice version of the game (Oh yeah, and thank Cain Highwind as well ) |

Mission Complete!
Yippie!! I cleared FFVI-T!! I finished it yesterday at about 10 PM. I must say the game is much more fun without hour-long loading times. I could race through the game and have fun as I watched the characters go through their dilemmas. I still think the ending is kinda corny, but I liked the whole casting thing the first time I cleared it. Well, I think I can proudly say now:
Final Fantasy VI is cool (But I still think it can't touch FFVII...) |

Well, good for you for giving a game that you disliked another chance. Once people generate an opinion about a game, they tend to pretty much stick by that. The fact that you went out and re-evaluated it... well, it's not something many people can claim having done.
I want to give FF9 another chance. I didn't like it much my first pass through, but I feel I should try it at least once more before condemning it forever. |

I DID, the remade version on the PSX. And did I forget to mention that it made me fall asleep twice? What game has that effect? That was just the reason I thought I had to play it again. Also, in the PSX version, Kefka didn't even get a turn. My best character Terra was about Lv. 50. You get where I'm going, eh Johnny? The original version was made a bit easy with the Quadruple attack and Magic.
That's why I decided to play Cain's version, just to get the feel of the game back. Same characters, same plot, just a bit different gameplay. Cain's version was a bit harder...for a while. I have to say FFVI is one of the shorter, more flexible FF's of the series. Once you get the Falcon, you can choose to take on Kefka immediately. Or you can do the sidequests. I chose the second, because that's more fun ![]() Anyway, Palazzo, you're talking to a ~FF~ Fan Extraordinair. Don't think I'm doing half work. I know what I'm talking about, and that is exactly why I cleared FFVI again. This version was just a bit more challenging and interesting. |

Yeah, i've completed it. It's a great game, but you just need to get used to the graphics and the lack of CGI. you will eventually get gripped!

If it was made a bit easy with the Quadruple attack and music, don't use them. Quite simple really. VII was made super easy with all the lame materia/materia combinations. Then again, it wasn't that difficult if you didn't use them either. |

Excuse me, if I'm Level 50, and I need to fight a final boss, I can guess I'll receive a whoopin'. It comes down to the fact that at Level 50, Kefka didn't even touch me. In FFVII that couldn't happen! Sephiroth would've received a turn, no matter what! Please, don't start comparing FFVI with FFVII AGAN!! They're hard to compare, and it's more an opinion thing...
Why should I play FFVI AGAIN?? And why should I NOT use the Quadruple stuff? Why should I make my characters WEAKER?? It doesn't make sense, okay. Also, the Materia system was not lame. [Entering Palazzo mode: "If you don't like the Materia system, don't use them. If THAT's STILL easy, kill one or more characters."] Do you get the point? I WILL clear FFVI again, once it's re-released on the GBA. Until then, I'm fine. I'm currently clearing a shit load of games, and I think FFVI just needed to be justified in my system... |

Actually, FFVII and FFVI are easy to compare, seeing as they were both revolutionary, and FFVII copied many, many ideas from FFVI.
Yes, the materia system was lame. But that was a standard part of the game, quite unlike the multiple-Ultima combos. Those were just cheap. It's one thing to play a game, even to find shortcuts and good combinations, but that is cheap. Kind of like Knights of the Round, but not nearly to that extent, and not pre-cheapened for you. VII was much, much easier than VI, unless you went through the (even more lame) pointless WEAPON battles. The game should be a challenge, it shouldn't be easy with a couple optional extreme challenges. However, if you've already beaten and appreciate the original FFVI, I don't see a problem with you taking on a different version -- though I highly, highly doubt that some schmuck is going to remake any part of it to make it any better. At least you're gaining more respect for the older, better FFs.
