FFVI-2: Not so Far away

A remake/sequel to VI would have sounded great to me a while back, but given Square-Enix's track record of milking everything to death recently as far as FF itself goes, I'm a bit skeptical. Still I'll wait and see what unfolds before making a rash judgement. It just seems to me like they're pulling a Nintendo. In other words, franchise whoring. for example, when Nintendo first made Zelda, it was a great game. Zelda II? Good game. All the way up to Ocarina of Time, there was quality and a lot of thought.

Now look at the number of Zelda games out there today...in such a small period of time. I fear that's what is going to happen to FF. I could be wrong, I suppose.

I'm not to big a fan of the whole sequal or prequal thing. It tends to sour the original, but once in a great while it does turn out for the better. If this really is true the I will be very excited. i'm not sure what it'll have to do with, but just the thought of a sequal to VI is very exciting, I truly hope it comes out to be something as good as VI itself.

As long as it's good, and they don't exchange the game with the cow and start milking the game to the infinite, like they do with Final Fantasy VII. Milking it for money....mhm

Well, I kinda don't have any ideas for ways to continue this storyline.
Does Kefka awaken from the death and want revenge?
Does Celes turn into a monster and try to destory the world?
What happens?

I wouldn't think Kefka would come back, and Celes doesn't really have much reason -- the Magitek infusion process was refined enough by the time she was "created" that it didn't have the side-effects Kefka got, like becoming a crazy bastard. Maybe they'd do something with Gestahl... I don't know how they'd do much of this, though. Prettymuch the entire thing would be "new", except for the characters. And since Magic doesn't exist anymore, I really don't know how they'd go about that... If this turns out, I'd really like to see how they go about putting it all together. If they're basing it off FFVI, it couldn't be anything less than superb.

Maybe a prequel, about what Terra did in her Magitech days? With Kefka giving her assignments and stuff. That would be like ONLY_FAOR_MOAR_FANS, or something like that.

Well, I'm kinda against a prequel/sequel 'coz I still have'nt completed the game fully out. But maybe when I do, then you can make one .

i agree with you. a prequel would be the best route to go, because you're kind of just pushed into the story line of 3, and it leaves a little room to be like... what exactly happened in that time. if the original team of 3/6 worked on it... it could be very well done.

but given the current staff that hass done X, X-2, and XI...and from the looks of it XII... i think it would be disappointing.
