I agree with Sean. FFVI was the best there ever was. I've played it 10 times through and still love it. I mean all is good in it storyline, graphics (LOL), bosses, matches. I simply just love it. It deserves a sequel

Yeah it makes sense. I mean Kitase has said they're done with FFX, and what else are they going to do after the "Compilation of FFVII" is done? VIII and IX are well known by many fans, but I don't think it's nearly as popular as VI, VII, and X are. Not to mention Kitase was invloved with VI the same way he was with VII.

A sequel to VI would kick ass, as would a remake. I've been thinking of at least trying to remake key scenes from IV in 3D Studio Max by myself, just to get an idea of what they would look like, ya know? To get the full game of FFVI in glorious 3D would be absolutely kickass. Long live sprites, but damnit, 3D looks pretty!

I've avoided this thread for a looooong time... mostly because I haven't really formed an opinion on it yet. I mean, a sequel? It would feel weird, I think.

FFVI will ALWAYS be a game best done with sprites to me. Its PSX release was absolutely disgusting, mixing sprites with cutscenes... and the load times were horrid.

Still... perhaps if it were entirely three-dimensional, I could learn to love it. I'm not against anything like this being made, but I can't say that I wouldn't give it a chance, either. Besides, I know for a fact that it wouldn't be anything like the remake was on the PSX... and I'm curious to see how SquareEnix treats it, story-wise.

As long as it doesn't suck, it's something I could enjoy.

I quite like the idea of prequel to FFVI set in the times of the War Of The Magi. It would be interesting to learn more about those times, like how it all started, how it all ended and all that happened in between. We'd also find out about the history of Thamasa and the Espers.

I also quite like the idea suggested of a game showing what happened during the year after the catastrophe. With the main characters, the rest of the population of the world and even Kefka.

I'm not sure if a sequel would make a good game, but it would be interesting to find out what happened after the end of the game, with the characters and everyone else in the world. Also, it would be good to find out what happened to GoGo and Shadow at the end. It's possible that they died.

Though, saying this, VI should probably be left as it is rather than possibly ruining the greatness.

Seeing as what SQUARE ENIX did with FFX-2, I would say no to making a sequel to Final Fantasy VI. But, if they would really give it time and quality like what they're doing/dhey did with FFVII: AC, then it'd be great to add some sense to those seemingly unanswerable plotholes(like who is GOGO? Where did Banon GO? Where did the moogles go? What happened to Daryl?).

I hated FFX-2, using YRP's sex appeal to attract audiences who, some, didn't even bother playing the orginal FFX. I mean FFX was a classic, taking more than 2 years to finish. FFX-2 on the other hand used recycled models, locations, and characters(sprites?). Nobuo Uematsu wasnt even the composer. The BGM sucked big time.

If that would be the case in FFVI-2(if they decide to make it), then I'd really hate to see it. FFVI is classic like FFVII&FFX. They shouldn't make a sequel to it, if they don't have a purpose or if they don't intend to put a lot of sweat and blood to it.

If they would make a spin-off featuring Setzer Gabbiani, like "Dirge of Cerberus" for Vincent, then it'd be great. lol

since final fantasy VI/III is my favorite final fantasy of all time, it would be so awesome if they could do a sequal on ps2 or something. like go into depth of the characters past a little more, and do the war of the Magi, since all we know is that Gestahl and his little group of ho's went in the sealed gate and took the espers out, i would want to know how they came across that stuff, so a sequel dealing with the past would be cool, but i have no idea, would they do a sequel to FF6? o.O i'd spend $50 dollars on it. =D

A remake of ff 6 would be great - to actually have characters look like they do in ff ix, x, or x-2 would be so cool! And add movie scenes that add to the flare of the game. I'd buy it if they re-make it but don't want to get my hopes up.

Matsuno is doing his part, but it's coming in slowly, and Kitase and Nomura only working on fan-pleasers doesn't help.

I hope that they at least get Amano back into the mix, hopefully with Uematsu as well. But geez...They were wearing on my nerves before, but now it's...Ugh.
I agree with you about prequels, sequels and those sorts of things - especially when it comes to the Star Wars prequels, stuff like that should of just been made into books or comics, 'cause seriously Anakin makes Vader seem like a whinny b*tch.

However I think Square is really bringing something new with each of it's "spin-off" projects. It may be for the fans, but without them the games wouldn't be such a success. Besides if it weren't for Advent Children, I probably wouldn't of bothered to go back and play FFVII all the way through.

My friends are huge fans of FFVI though (and keep telling me Kefka could beat Sephiroth any day), so I actually look forward to this sequel - whether it be game, movie, anime, whatever.

Whether FFX-2 stinks or not, I see it as more of a testing grounds as to what fans like and don't like. I personally love it when Square brings something new to it's FF series.

Have any of you ever wanted to know what happened to all
the characters after you saw them flying upwards on the airship? i have.

In the next game (if they are actually making one) the sequel should start where everybody is on the airship, and all of the sudden, a meteor came and destroyed the airship, and everybody is scattered throughout the world and you start off with terra in a town where its all foggy and she has to find help. Also in the sequel the main enemy should be kefka's relative.

That'd be great, im glad square are going back to the
old REAL ff games (I-IX) instead of lame new ones like Crystal Chronicals that didn't even deserve FF as a title. I cant criticise X, X2 or XI as i have never played them (im planning on getting XI). FF6 is a great game that didnt get as much respect as deserved, probably because of the delay to get it in playstation, and compared to it's peers the graphics being a bit retro. Sabin and Edgar are the best and Terra was great for a female character.

Im not sure, though, how they can carry on this game as magic completely gets wiped off the face of the earth and Kefka falls to the hero's (excuse lame use of the word 'heros') and alexander's judgement, but anyhoo it still sounds great!

i'm sure that there will be a new way to learn magic. We will have to still ponder on this while the rumor goes around.

Yeah, maybe some really powerful esper hidden away from the world could have still had it's power, something like Knights of The Round or Eden... hmm... well whether this is just a rumour or not is beyond me, but if square are planning a sequel we'll probably hear in a couple of months or so
