My favorite part would definitely be running across Setzer for the first time, and then completing the opera sequence.
...but see, posts like that would make this whole thread a spam topic, so since I'm in charge here, I'm going to require a WHY from everyone as well. Otherwise, this thread hits the bricks. Now, why was the opera scene my favorite? Well, besides acquiring Setzer at the end, which kicks ass in itself, the music is amazing and the fight with Ultros is hilarious. I remember how I used to worry that I'd run out of time, but always ended up with a minute or two to go. The whole scene was just amusing to me, because it shifted from this dark, serious mood to a "OMG WTF?!" mood when Ultros crashed down and Setzer came "to the rescue" after the fight. It's just fun, I s'pose.

Im going to have to comply with Cesar, the Opera scene of Final Fantasy VI is probably one of hte most memorable momments in gaming history... if not Final Fantasy history...
It ranks up there with
Why? Well the opera is very unique... you dont see many games involving you participating in an opera... the music/story is quite good, well I liked it... I love the rebound with ultros, turning it around to fit your characters blundering acts... it really is a markerpoint in gaming history. GENERAL RULE OF THUMB AT TFF: IF you post an opinion or a reason... or a response... MAKE sure you are thinking the word "Why" and address it in your post... WHY is the most beautiful word ever... obey it!

I don't have a clear favorite part in FF6. I love this game so much. There are quite a few: Cyan going solo against the Empire for poisoning Doma (I like that amounts of rage, especially when the beloved is at the brink of dying...that kind of rage provoked by such action is inspiring), the entire scene in Vector (that darned mission was way cool. Few people introduce to a country and wreak havoc with so much ease), awakening the Espers (nonsense destruction is always a plus
) , etc. Oh wait...I know now what's the absolute best part about FF6 (I can't believe myself...) Its Terra. Yes, its a character the part of FF6 I love the most. Like everything about her, except Edgar flirting and all that with Leo. |

I'm going to start with a question: psychosyd, you didn't happen to be part of rm2kete or any of those other CFC cards dealing-with forums were you?
Non spam bit: The best part of FF6 is the following: Czar Dragon. Now here's a dude with the coolest opening scene battle quote ever, and what's even cooler? They didn't even put him into the game. "How is that cool" you ask? Let me put it this way..... There is nothing cooler than learning about a boss with better stats than Kefka almost (more HP and MP anyways) that was never put into the game, at least not in the FF3 version for American distribution. It was pure awesome, no better part. |

My favorite part of the game? Probably doing Sabin's part of the story (in the first half, when your group breaks up into three groups after the fight with Ultros).
I enjoyed that the most because it was the longest of the three parts, and it introduced Cyan, Shadow, and Gau. The other two parts were short - let's escape from South Figaro, whee. Let's go back to Narshe, whee. But Sabin's part, from Doma to the Ghost Train to the Serpent Trench, was a blast to play, and did a good job of introducing me to Sabin.

The Floating Continent.
I love the landscape of that place, and I like the music, too. My favorite part would be when Emperor Gestahl and Kefka first face off. It is also the home to one of my favorite boss battles ever: Atma Weapon. The Opera House is nice too, but everyone else has mentioned that and I am unique! HAHAHA! |

I am a sheep...
Or a lemming, if you prefer the reference to an Old Skool game... I've always been partial to the Opera Scene myself, and because of that part of the game us geeky Old Skoolers have access to the 23 minute Dream Oath Opera audio file. That and you first meet Setzer, the pimpingest pimp ever created. SPOILER!!: Apart from that obvious choice, I would have to choose the part where you first feed Gau the Meat in the Veldt. Mr. Thou! Cracks me up every time...

Although the whole opera sequence ranks high up for me, I think I can narrow my favourite parts down to two fairly specific moments.
I'll warn for some spoilers, but one would assume the people posting here have played through FF6 at least once. The first, during Sabin's part of the quest when he goes to Doma for the first time, or at least, the imperial camp. I always wished that that part would be longer, mainly because I like the whole idea of infiltration. The sequence that followed was pretty spectacular. Morbid, but spectacular. People call Kefka a clown, but when someone says something like "Nothing beats the music of hundreds of voices screaming in unison", he's pretty evil. Watching Cyan see his family die before his very eyes is pretty powerful too. That's what led him to become my favourite character. My second favourite scene would be around the very end, when all the characters are detailing how their lives have been changed in the world of ruin. Although it isn't a classic, Kefka's "self-help book" line made me grin with evil. Kefka does have some other good lines, in his conversation with two of the characters (It's usually Terra and Locke for me). "I will hunt them down, I will destroy it all. Destroy! Destroy! Destroy!" Albeit a video game, I think it's possible to truly sense this character's madness at this point. Kefka, you crazy sonofabitch. ![]() Those would be my favourite parts of the game. |

This is hard...well, there are several great moments for me, and the first is Atma Weapon: First WEAPON in FF, SHWEET battle theme(track 8 on my battle mix he heh), and it was just intense. Sorry, Terra, Relm, Celes, and Shadow are putty against Flare Star.
Number Two: Relm's introduction. Great music, and she is too damn funny. That, and she takes crap from no one. Number Three: Locke's flashback in Kohlingen. Without his back story, he would have been just some guy with a tortured artist shirt. But he had some definite tragedy in his past. *If you picture him crying and/or moping during every one of his quotes, it creepily doesn't seem out of place*. HA HA sorry Locke fans ^.^ |
