Double posting certainly isn't something I'd advise any of you to do, but this little update definitely deserves some attention.

Cain, it's official. Check the TFF homepage to see what I mean. If there are any issues with the article I wrote, PLEASE let me know so that all appropriate changes may be made.

All images appearing in the article are hosted from TFF's FTP, so there's no worry about us sucking your bandwidth. Also, I used the game file that I uploaded on TFF's server, again to avoid bandwidth leeching.

Like I said, if there's anything you want changed, let me know. ^_^

Great job, Cain!!!!! The game hack's new version is so sweet!!! The dialogues on the classroom are funnier than ever!!!! And you saved the "save point" dialogue...that is a big reason I'll keep playing. Though, the new portraits terrified me a little bit (too accustomed to Amano-sempai's work, this built a bit of shock). The enemies are still a bit too strong (beaten by a Leafer and a Dark Wind is not fun), so I'll have to train to inhuman levels on the meanwhile...

Since I'm in the mood, I'll debate for a bit: the idea of using curative magic is, by no means, a paradox: rather, it is a law of nature, perfectly plausible. White Magic = life, good, holy, etc. Undead = dark, often evil, death. Natural opposites, see? One more thing: you do not debate the fundamentals laws of RPGs, ever!!!

(...aaaaaaaaaaaaaah...gee, I needed that. College life is sucking me dry...)

Cain, I loaded an old save file I had with the patched version... and everybody still had their normal abilities the game provides... for example Edgars was Fight Toos Magic Item

Do save files not patch well? Should I start a brand new file to get everything working?

Skins and texting are all correct, looks nice by the way, very tactics, but after the looks and name changes, nothing seems to be very different

Yes, names and character stats are saved seperately than the hack. If you use a save from the original you'd only be experiencing the Eqipment systems (go to the menu and and do optimum to prevent glitched/now unintentional items), the graphical, and some of the enemy stat hacks.

It's like how you can download hacked saves with characters you're not intended to have (Tactics for one). SO yeah if you really intend to play through and experience ALL the changes, then start fresh.

I'm up to the scenarios, and already I love this version. Cain, you are easily the coolest member at TFF at the moment. This is every FFVI fan's dream...a fresh version of the game that does NOT tarnish the original. I'm going to log down both praise and criticism as I go along, and hopefully catch you on AIM sometime to discuss some of the things with you. It may or may not be of any use, but I'll try to contribute toward your game in any way that I can.

I have some good news guys.

I've been doing some research and I've come across a mountain load of material on how to edit Enemy AI, and even patches I never even knew existed. Did you know there's a patch that adds New Game+ or one that makes Gau controllable while he uses Rages? There's a whole FFVI Hacking community under our noses. Whoda thunkit?

On top of that, a new version of Lord J's Multi Editor has been released with new tweaks and added functionality.

All this means, the next version should be even better than ever!

EDIT: Looks like we posted at the same time Inferno Mage, glad you're enjoying it.

I fisrt noticed a lot of people talkin about this version, so I decided to check it out. I first didn't quite figure out how to patch the game, but finally I did. I turned the game on, and.....WOW

I'm now fighting Ultros and I gotta say, this version rules. It's far better then the PSX version, cuz there ain't no loading times. Also I like a FF that's spicy, and that's also the case here. This makes the game more challenging to play and it makes you wanna get sronger and stronger.

Damn, this makes me proud of being a member of TFF, if it wasn't for this, I never would've found out. Good Job, Cain!!!

This remake is awesome.

It seems to me though that the bosses are easier than the random enemies. Maybe im lvlin too much but most bosses on my game only take about 1 or 2 hits until they die. The first boss seemed exceptionally easy and I have no idea why. Did you edit the stats of the bosses in proportion to the random enemies?

Ohh yeah. I thought it was wicked awesome when I found the Short Charge in Basement 2.

I was also wondering what your plans for future patches were?

Very nice hack!
Thought I could post a bug (not sure if this has been noticed already): In the Veldt's Zarghidas Trade City when you go to the item shop there's an empty slot that seems to be a some kind of an equipment but although it doesn't have a name nor a price you still can't buy it =D. This seems to affect to the other part of the bug which is that you can't buy a tent in there.
I've also noticed some weird name changes in dialogs like Kefka turning into Algus all of a sudden but I know that you've had some hard time with the dialogs so I guess this can't be helped? But yeah these are really MINOR bugs and don't bother me that much =D.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for that! I thought I fixed that. See I originally planned to change ALL the characters into FFT characters, and I started going through changing characters like Kefka to Algus. But then it just didn't seem right so I changed things back (I think the only character change still in is Arvis as Olan)

And I plan to get to the bottom of that Shop Bug (already brought to my attention by Psiko.

EDIT: While I've been a little busy lately, I do have good news. The new Item descriptions hack is a complete success! As well as Inzolgemo helping me with a special hack that adds a new message at the end of battle. Check the screens ^_^

Well thanks for waiting guys, here's the latest version of the patch version 2.5b!

Here's the list of changes all the way from the 2.4 beta:

2.5b (April 19, 2005) The Real Release

-Nasty bug with Echo Screen description fixed (Thanks Izolgemo)

-Default Window colors tweaked. Looks a little closer to FFTA Dialog Windows now.

-Various Menu tweaks

-Mobliz Shop Bug fixed

-Thanks to Teri-Senshi's guide for info about Barehands, fixing a bug with barehands being stronger than some weapons. Future release will completely abolish the need for Sabin's fists

-Changed a typo from a WAY EARLY version of the hack (Kefka to Algus and now back to Kefka)

-Added a new "This Battle is Complete!" message at the end of battles. Thanks Inzgolmo!

2.5 (March 26,2005) Unreleased-New Item Descriptions Inserted

2.4 Log (March 17,2005) Private Beta

-Tweaked Megahit AKA Shock/Seiken, Now only half as strong, uses Physical NOT Magic Power (as Holy Sword is in FFT), but can inflict Random statuses (like all the FFT Holy Sword skills combined). ~Thanks Psiko (and Inzolgemo for telling me about Megahit)

-Tweaked Various Beginning Monsters (Including Repo Man, TriloBite, and others)

-Changed Locke's initial equipment from Leather Armor (which he can't normally equip) to Clothes(which he can equip).

-Added Flurry Robes to all the Moogles (for the Save Terra event)

-All Weapons' Bat Power decreased 75% (Sabins "Fists" also changed)

-All Shields Defense and Magic Defense decreased 75%

-All Armor Defense Stats increased by 10 points (Maximillion is now the strongest armor).

-Fixed problem with Sleeping Bag (wasn't showing up correctly in the field) ~Thanks Psiko

-Shadow can no longer equip daggers (which don't allow him to equip two)

-Mog can no longer equip ANY swords, somehow he could equip a few, (must've beeen when I was trying to decide what "class" to make Mog). His equipment system now is strictly a Mage/Dancer hybrid and can equip Knives, Clothes, Robes, and Rods.

-The Flurry Robe (formerly Snow Muffler) can now be equipped by more characters (practically all characters except Locke, Shadow, Cyan, and Setzer) now considering it IS a Robe.

-Fixed some unintentional abilities for Cyan's Knives (Kiyomori still had original "Air Slash and Wind Elemental) Also since there's no way to fully implement the Draw Out Ability, added some Stauses Bonuses to some of the weapons instead (Heaven's Cloud now adds Slow, Masamune Adds Regen and Haste, etc)

-Various characters' Natural Evade tweaked to be more "FFT Accurate", thanks to Aerostar's FFT Battle Mechanics Guide.

http://www.newwavemugen.com/~cainssj4/FFT6v25b.zip

Oh and check the attached "teaser" screenshots to show what I'm working on next.

Note: Is a WIP shot made for kicks and testing purposes, will NOT be in final version.

Well well, looking sharp! I'm not going to switch versions just yet as I know the final is coming within the next couple of months, but to anyone who doesn't have 2.4: go straight for the good stuff! I've heard this latest release is much more solid, so congratulations are in order.

Cain, I can't wait for the final. We'll have to set up a good time to chat; there must be an official interview to go along with the article for it.
