Who's the best?

Gau IS good, but takes too much experimentation to find out what exactly you should be using...A simple fix for him would be to allow access to a list of what each monster's abilities he uses in his Rage menu (in-battle would be all the better, but I'd settle for just a in-menu list).

I went with Shadow. He's by far the best ninja in the entire series (& ranks up there with the likes of Hayabusa & Strider as gaming's all-time most kickass ninjas)...and also, with Intercepter's cool shield & counters, he's also got one of the earliest massively damaging attacks. Also has access to a few of the limited instant-death weapons (though it can be annoying having to unequip them when fighting the undead if you want to attack).

Second would probably go to Sabin/Mash as he has Bum Rush, which you can obtain earlier than Ultima or the Gengi Glove+Offering combo. Not the best Chakra in the series, but still a good fallback healing ability.

Third (and really, probably actually second now that I think about it) I think would go to Setzer. He's got the scarred up face, which is actually kind of cool...he's got some of the COOLEST airships in the series (the Blackjack has a friggin CASINO in it! lol)...and he's got a mutha fuggin DICE ROLL~!! I love Dice & Fixed Dice. I always give him the Genji Glove+Offering combo with those weapons. Sure, it's a dicey move, but...

My favorite character has always been Edgar. Once you get the chainsaw, he's automatically badass. When it comes to physical damage, he's always the one to count on besides Sabin.

Sabin keeps reminding me of Street Fighter, especially when you have to use the maneuvers to use his abilities. He's been my behemoth in my party.

I voted for Shadow because... not only is he awesome... but, he's just the best character in the FF6 game period...

I voted Shadow, but have quite a few favorites.

Edgar's tools are awsome, and if you give him the Dragoon stetup he's megabadass. Celes actually has a pretty nice defensive ability. Sabin's Blitzes are OP throughout the whole game, and his magic stat is decent too. And Shadow is a NINJA!!!!!!

Hmm, that's a tough choice. For the best person in battle, I would say either Sabin or Edgar because both of them are very strong and deal a good amount of damage. They can never do me wrong, they're awesome. They are normally always in my party unless they can't be for whatever reason.

Well it depends what you're asking. If you mean looks cool or likes the style of Setzer and Edgar are the cooler ones I've seen. Setzer with his coat, darts, care free spirit, it's admirable. Edgars well respected, has the outfit going and can be a good fighter when you need him.

As for a strictly best character of the game there's no doubt it's Sabin. With all the moves you learn over time by the time you reach the end of the game if you work him properly and give him good equipment he can kill Kefka alone. Granted several characters can do that but his brute strength is stronger than anyone else on the entire team without question..next would be Locke from what I've seen due to his moderate strength but lightning speed.
