I always woanderd this please help

Around two years ago I got FFV the FF Anthology version for the PS one I got 8 hours into the game right after the pirate ship quest at least four times and each time it froze right when I would go to the munu screen and return to the map screen . Oh and the game was used and a little scratched so I wanted to know is it because it is kinda scratched or is the Disc version of V prone to this, I sure hope not because I do not have a SNES, the game seemed cool from what I've played of it and I want to get a New anthology off of ebay.

Help is very much appreciated thanks

Well V is prone to A LOT of bad glitches if you are playing it on a PS2, but i haven't heard about things happening with it on the PS1. On the PS2, it happens to me all the time, where if you try to save the screen becomes and all crazy and jumbled. Sony released Final Fantasy Anthologies as one of the game incompatible with the PS2, but it still was possible to save, just kind of annoying and you often had to try many times.

As for your disc..hmm. I have no idea, if it freezes in one spot that more than likely means it's because of the scratch in the disc. I could be wrong though, maybe other people have had similar problems like yours.

Interesting, the PAL Versions work perfectly fine besides being a bit slow. The only Ps1 game I had trouble with was FFVII but I brought a new copy which worked perfectly fine. I think it would be the ps2 rather than the game, if you can find a cheap ps1 or one of your mates has 1 I would try it on that.
