Weakest of the Ff series?

I honestly don't understand what there is to hate about this game. The monsters were innovative, the villains were by far my favorites, alongside Kuja, the characters didn't try to impress anyone and still managed to be decent, emotions fluctuated pretty well in the game IMO, and the story was well established. Really, you can't go wrong with FFV.

Its a shame that there is a serious lack of Exdeath-esque villains anymore. Now we just have those "misunderstood antagonists" that take after Sephiroth. I'm honestly sick of it all...

Yes, Exdeath was one of my favourite antagonists in the Final Fantasy series. The game had a great pedigree. Final Fantasy VII and X along with VI were so critically and fan acclaimed. This game wasn't necessarily a bad game but it was just so underwhelming compared to the others that came before it and after it. I think it deserves more credit.

I disagree with that statement completely. Final Fantasy VIII's Omega Weapon along with Kefka from Final Fantasy VI.

And to stay on the subject I have to agree with some other people on this, FFVI FFVII FFVIII FFX were just so popular with people and got the most hoots and giggles out of those Final Fantasys that some before and after those, just didn't get the attention they deserved nor usually the time and patience because there was no "Sephiroth" type character, and I'm honestly tired of the fan club for that villian, such an easy final boss battle. Seriously? I fought Kefka for a long time without being max'd the first time and he was a long and fun fight, sephy was more like.... Limit Limit Limit, hit hit hit, curaga, repeat. Oh yay! He's DEAD. <.< Sad excuse of a boss.

I loved the game! I thought it was a lot better than FFIV. The gameplay and everything was great, and how you could change jobs whenever like Tactics was also great. Look at Cain Highwind's list for what FV has that's do unique!!

I really enjoyed FF V. It has Blue Magic, which I like, worked on the whole job idea, which was fun. It was just an all-around enjoyable game. I can kind of relate to Bartz on some things. I always wanted to travel when I was young.

I liked how FFV had tons of options for what abilities you could make each character learn. Almost all the others had a set job for each character. That led to me using characters I hated in order to use a certain ability! Hated that!

FF IV had more story to it than this one, which is a shame.

I actually liked it. O.o It was quite easy, you didn't have any problems finding your way through it - better than always needing help XD" Okay, the characters were a bit.. nah, let's say strange. There were only four of them which is rare in FFs but they all had their own story, so they were acceptable. x3 But they weren't real heroes, especially Bartz. I didn't quite know what to think of him. I liked him quite much, but he was so... different from other protagonists of FF. O.o
When I beat it I was very very happy that I even played it. It was fun, so it was a good FF x3

I think it gets crapped on more than it should. Ive played FF 1, 4-10, X-2, Tactics, and 12 and if I may be so bold, I was actually more interested in it then 1 or 4. It has a cookie cutter by the books storyline, and okay characters but the job system made it fun. What I did was purposely break up the job system and only allow each character to use a certain job based on what I think fit their personalities best. I liked it as much as X-2. Which I think is reasonably fair.

I liked FF5. The job/ability system was unique and allowed you to create different strategies by combining abilities. Some of the funky job classes gave you cool abilities which made those classes worth using (otherwise I would have never used classes such as Chemist or Hunter).

The story was mediocre but the gameplay made up for it. Of the 1st generation FF i would rank them in this order:

1. FF6
2. FF4
3. FF3
4. FF5
5. FF1
6. FF2

Never liked it that much, the worst FF game that I have played but I finished it anyway. The story wasn't interesting at all, the same thing goes for characters. I have never really used to the job system and because of that it was pretty challenging sometimes. Previous FF games were much better especially FF II and FF IV.

It was more fun than a lot of the other FF's and the class system was fun.
I think the story was alright.
I don't know why it's so underated, probably some emo's don't like its quirkiness and fun or something.
Also the old status is instant win.

Omega Weapon (FF VIII) is pretty hard but it is well agreed that at least Shinryu was once the hardest fight in the series, NeoShinryu could be the one to claim the title. Kefka, hard? If the player is seriously under-leveled and not set-up well; Kefka is a simple machine in the spectrum of final boss fights.

"Limit Limit Limit, hit hit hit, curaga, repeat????" More like Sephiroth gets only 5 turns, maybe even less; Sephiroth is in the spectrum of final boss fights - not even pre-simple machine. But final boss fights are the developers faults, not the final boss; plus, Final Fantasy final boss fights have been generally easy.

Unfortunate that you didn't like the story and characters, what about the music? Barely using the job system in a game where the battle system was the job system is and not playing a special way is... stupid, simply put. Actually immersing yourself in the job system would have made the game a lot more fun, at least battle-wise, which could have carried over to the story and characters making the more likable.

Final Fantasy IV's story and characters are barely above Final Fantasy V for me, but the job system crushes the battle system in Final Fantasy IV (excluding the FF IV DS, until I complete game and make judgment). As for Final Fantasy II, you are referring to the Final Fantasy with Firion, Maria, Minwu, etc? Because that is definitely not better than Final Fantasy V; FF V's characters and story are definitively better and the job system crushes FF II's system, with it's horrid magic system, the rest of the system was good. I like and enjoy Final Fantasy II, but saying it is better than Final Fantasy V is stretching Final Fantasy II's quality, greatness, or goodness, take your pick.

Music? Sorry, it seems that I forgot about that. Music was decent, there are few music pieces that I like but nothing special although FF V has better music than some FF I've played.

Yes, I agree with you on this one, it was pretty stupid of me not to use the job system at his full capacity. I was paying more attention to the job system when I first started the game and you're right it was somewhat fun but the story and the characters disappointed me so I was in hurry to beat the game as fast as I could.

I should have used the word "personally" when I said that the FF II and IV are better than FF V but yes, personally I like them much more. I recently finished FF I and I might go overboard by saying this but I like it more than FF V ,that's just my personal opinion. Sure, I agree with you that FF V has better battle system but I rather prefer story and characters over the battle system and in all honesty I find that FF II and IV were much better in those aspects, you don't need to agree with this but that's just my impression.

True, it is your preference. But you could you back up that the characters were deeper in Final Fantasy II then Final Fantasy V? They were "deep" for their time, but the SNES era of Final Fantasy characters were deeper. When I'll go back and play II and V I'll measure the characters growth, depth, and development to get an accurate account.

I suggest also, to try to play FF V again and to fully use the job system. For me, if the story and characters are ok but the battle system is great I'll still play it, just as if vice-versa. Just as long as one part is not horrible I can play through, like Grandia III or Legaia 2.

FFX-2 was the weakest in my opinion

The storyline was sperbs, the characters were very creactive, The job system was amazing. I can see any faults!

Why would I love a game that has a bad story and lame characters, I'm not saying this only for FF V. Should I love it just because it's called Final Fantasy, not every FF is so awesome as you may think. Final Fantasy Tactics was a pain in the ass for me but I suppose I should say it's great, I like it, only because of the Final Fantasy tittle. I hate bad games and if by any case a Final Fantasy game is like that than it makes no difference for me. Just to clear things I don't hate FF V, I just think that it's one of the worst in the series but compared to some of the RPG games that I've played it isn't actually bad.
