Ok I am nearing the end of the game and I have run across the Stingray sidequest.

I got Guardian learned for my Blue Magic, however I am unable to steal the Rune Edge from him. But I know that I can get one later in a chest, so that's no big deal.

My question is if this monster actually drops a Dragon Beard. Because I have fought him probably 30 times and he still hasn't dropped it. So I'm wondering if it does ever or what the deal is. Is there perhaps another location or monster to which I can get this item from.

I only ask because this whip is like the strongest in the game, even more powerful in AT power than the legendary whip Fire Bute.

Any help?

Yes the Sting Ray is suposed to drop it but like you I have never seen this happen. There is one other place you can get this and that is to steal it from Shinryuu which could prove to be quite the challenge, especially because its the rare thing you steal from him and he's the hardest boss in the game. So the choice is yours. Might I sugest not worrying about it? I realise it's the most powerful whip but when you've mastered all the classes and your using four mastered Bares, you probably won't be using whips with other powerful weapons to be concidered. So my advise is skip it UNLESS your one of those people that just has to have every item, just keep fighting Sting Ray.

Well I agree with what you are saying and I don't neccessarily need everything, but I'd like to get it if I can of course. I'm going to give it some more time and if I don't get it, than I'm moving on without it.

I might try again on Shinryuu, but I'm not replaying the battle over and over until I do. So if I don't get it from the Stingray or Shinryuu than I'm just gonna leave it.
