Gilgame

Can anyone give me a strategy to beat Gilgame, in Gilgame's Cave. That mofo turtle is rocking my party's world. He just attacks too hard and too fast. My level is around 42 and that is why I am certainly perplexed by it.

I have a few jobs mastered and alot of different classes available to switch to. I am currently using a Monk, a Hunter, a Thief w/Barefist, and a Summoner. I tried using Golem to slow down his attacks, but my physical fighters are simply not doing enough damage to him to take him down. Nor do I know how many HP's this guy really has. My Golem is also taken down almost every round because he attacks like 4 times per round.

I am kind of lost as to what strategy to employ, could anyone assist please?

Still he remains a tough mofo with his insane speed and 30000+ hp.
I beat the bastard once but on a way lesser level. I based my tactics on the fact that it is weak against ice. So the preferred attack is probably ice3. I remember a tutorial stating that equipping an Ice Rod should enforce this spell though I never used it. For defense, keep casting golem like crazy and to keep up with gilgames attacks, use haste2. This is the crucial point of the tactics. Also be prepared for his earthquake attack, cast float or better wear some item which lets you float (can't remember which). Mighty Guard would be perfect but as I recall, you can't get it in the first world.

Try getting some Ice Sword and S-shot going on if you have those abilities.I'm not sure if you have them by then I'm trying to remeber exacly where Gilgame is. And even if you can't beat him its just a money side quest but I would do it if I were you.

Well this is what I did. I leveled up in Moore Forest, and gained 3 more levels until I was level 45. Then I went there again, and had a Summoner continually cast Golem. A Samurai simply use his backup ability Blue to cast either Blow Fish or White Wind. I then used 2 Black Mages to continually cast Ice 3.

I did die once more though, because I didn't know he had the earthquake attack and it wasted me.

my stratagy has to do with 1 worrior an time mage a black mage and a sorceror.
if you do the stratagy right it is possible to finnish the battle with no damage done, but the problem is that you have to have a party of almost dead guys anyways.

the way i did it is i had a worrior with twin and full life. elf cloak and best sheild you can find and hunters knife. all the worrior does is use twin the whole battle.

all my other characters where almost dead.

my time mage at the beginning of the battle uses haste on the worrior or if you got haste 2 that would work.(and before the battle you should already have float equipted.) and the next turn uses regain of the worrior. after the first 2 turns the time mage should gaurd because time mages do not have any good attack skills that do alot of damage to the gilgame.

the black mage every turn uses ice 3 or 2.(depending on what you got.)

and the sorceror uses ice 2 or 3 sword.

try and get 2 ice swords,2-handed and X-fight. U can also try and get X-magic and use Ice three on him.
