I just noticed, after I recently started playing Final Fantasy Tactics: the War of the Lions again, that my Ramza had 1,506 JP for Time Mage, but I never trained him as a Time Mage. However, Ramza had over 9,500 JP as a Black Mage, so I figured it was somehow distributed? Does anyone know how this works?

Inventory | well think about it this way: Jobs that slightly resemble another job such as a monk and squire kind of share JP, like for instance i made ramza a monk for most of the game and by about the end my squire JP was in the 1000's even though i only trained him in it to learn JP up. So you can deduce that a black mage and time mage really relate to each other (after all you need a certain level black mage for a time mage) and so JP from one class just kind of spills into another class a bit. Although it doesn't subtract the original JP that your class your using gained. Its more like: Monk +20 JP = Squire +5 JP or something to that extent. Im not really sure how much is made for the other class but you get the point right?

| Yes, I know who it distributes to, but I don't know how. As in, how many JP for Black Mage equals how many for Time Mage? | ||||||||||||

| It could be that you have trained multiple black mages in the past. For every 8 JP you gain in a battle, all of your teammates that participate in that battle get 1 JP towards that class. That counts for classes that you haven't even unlocked yet. This is why you see the strange phenomena of having certain characters unlock a new class, and they have ~200 JP to buy abilities, but when another character first unlocks it, they may have an upwards to 1000 JP. | ||||||||||||

| Oh! So that's why! I had my Reis fight a battle with Ramza while a Time Mage, and she gained over 8000 JP during it. That must be why Ramza had over 1000 JP by the end! Thanks, Rocky! | ||||||||||||

)EDIT: I'm not even sure why you had a dragon lady gain almost over 9000 JP in the Time Mage class, but whatever floats your boat mang. Last edited by Rocky; 04-04-2009 at 07:09 PM..

| So then if I had four sucky characters and an overwhelming Ramza, I could get them all great abilities in one battle!^^ Quote:

Inventory | heh, i always thought it only worked if your character was a blackmage or something and you gain JP to another class that relates to the blackmage (like the white mage) and so on. Not your other characters contribute to that character gaining a bit of JP from a different class... Hardly makes sense of why they would do that. - no that doesn't make any sense. I remember that i hardly trained squires with Ramza during 3rd - 4th chapter, so he couldn't have gained that much JP during that time. Bah w/e. | So Rocky, if you get over 9999 JP, does the game still count even the undisplayed JP as excess?

| It does. Keep in mind that if you are using special classes that replace the Squire class for specific characters (like Engineer, Holy Knight, etc.), it will not carry over, except the ONE specific crossover, which happens to be that Ramza Squire's class and Luso's Squire class are the exact same. | ||||||||||||

| Then since Orlandu has the properties of all three kinds of Knights, do Agrias and Meliadoul get excess JP, too? | ||||||||||||

| A suprisingly good question, but the answer is no. only the exact same classes share the JP bonus, and Meliadoul/Agiras don't have the same class as Orlandu, so no dice. | ||||||||||||

Does it work backwards, though? Like do getting JP for Black Mages get you JP for Time Mage? Does it only give excess to other party members and not the one gaining it? Does gaining JP for say Dar Knight get you JP for all the perquisite jobs as well?

So I have all the Onion equipment (Im a stud like that) but I have come to a problem....ONION KNIGHTS DONT GAIN EXP! My onion knight is only lvl 14 now and I want him to lvl up faster. If I had other charecters to fight and gain exp would that work? I doubt it but I figured i'd ask. Currently I made him(Onion knight) into a squire and just have him walk around with Acure EXP and EXP up and throw rocks at people. It works but I want to really lvl fast, any sugestions?

Inventory | My understanding of the Onion Knight is that you must master jobs to level him up. For every job that says master, the onion knight gains a level. And No, experience doesn't carry over to other party members.

Inventory | ^thats one of the major slaps in the face about the onion knight, you believe it will be good to have but once you find out that you have to master the other classes then your just a bit disappointed.

| Ok for those of you who may be missinformed, the onion knight only requires lvl 6 squire and lvl 6 chemist. You dont have to master everything...but you may be talking of somthing else. For the record, you should go forth and get all the onion knight equipment(I know its hard to do.). Its extreamly powerfull and you dont really need abilitys...your just to powerfull. My lvl one onion knight did 400 damage with a cirtical on the onion sword. THATS BEASTLY! | ||||||||||||

| That would be great! My squire(soon to be OK) is currently lvl 31 now and I am so eger to have a lvl 99 onion knight with all Onion equipment! Its gona be awsome! ![]() Is there a way to get them to use abilities? I played a rendevous mission where you fight what are basicly final fantasy tactics power rangers.(Different colored onion knights) They all had abilities...cheaters.......or are they? | ||||||||||||
