I am giving a desperate thought about purchasing FFT A2 - Grimoire of the Rift, but is it worth the money? It will cost me 450 crowns. In pounds (or USD. I donīt know.) I guess that will be about 45. Anyway. The price isnīt that important... kinda. The meaning of this thread is... I want to know the good and bad things with the game. So please tell. ![]()

Inventory | The one for GBA? I played it...was just like the original FFT with some added features. I honestly didn't enjoy the game, but I only played the maybe the first 3 battles.

Inventory | No no. Not the GBA one. Tactis A2 - Grimoire of the Rift is the DS title ^^ The GBA is really good though.

Inventory | It's well worth your money - there are over 300 quests, and you can potentially put hundreds of hours of gameplay into it. A buddy of mine has logged 150 hours on his, and I've played 60 hours on the Japanese version, but only 30 on the US version so far (still working on it when I have time). As for goods and bads, if you liked the GBA version, you'll like the DS version a lot more. I can't really think of any bads (unless you start comparing it to FFT, but that's an entirely different discussion). If you've got any specific questions though, feel free to ask.

Inventory | In all honesty I didnīt enjoy the first Tactics game so much. It was kinda nice, but not as good as the advance version (my opinion). I am starting to get hyped about this game, but I would like to hear someone more, please. ![]()

| ...Are you serious? NOT AS GOOD? It's on a completely different level. How dare you. D: They're both great in their own respects. They both have different target audiences. Play the PSP remake of FFT. But yes, if you like the first FFTA, you'll like this a lot more, except for the fact that there is less of a "plot" with FFTA2 than there was with FFTA. | ||||||||||||

Inventory | Kinda off-topic (but juskinda) Iīve played the PSP version and then I sold it. It may be a fantastic game in overall, but i wasnīt my type of gameplay. shame to say, I never understood the game really and it was a bit hard for me. ![]() But anyway, please continue with the good and bad of Tactics A2.

Inventory | Alright then, why should you buy FFTA2? Because you liked FFTA & want more of the same. I actually liked FFTA2 a tiny bit more, but it's not all that different when you break it down. The Judge system takes less precedence (you just get bonus items & a slew of various abilities or stat/exp bonus options if you adhere to them...your characters no longer get booted out of the battle), though each mission has a preset Law attached to it (take that how you will). Oh, and Mirror Item is the most broken ability I have ever seen. If you're going to go with a SRPG for the DS I'd much rather go for Disgaea or Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. Inventory | If you liked FFTA then you will love this game. As was said before, you have 300 + quests and tons of job classes and races! Gria are awesome by the way. The story more or less unfolds the more quests you do. Some of the quests are more interesting than the original story. GO. GET. THIS. GAME.

| I would agree with mistress shena the story is not as heavy as FFTA is a little bit bland and non explanatory the story doesn't come through till half way through but it is a really good game none the less with lots new jobs and abbilities and the new races that some one mentioned earlier im up to about 240 missions and 100 hours it is very addictive but i wouldn't say it is as addictive as number one. Its good that the judges aren't such a big part but they do have an air of mystery in this one asking what they are and where they come from etc, i like the fact that you have to make the weapons with loot you get from battles instead of having to wait for certain parts of the game for new stuff to come in. I also like the fact that not many of the missions need items to do them where as in FFTA you have to do missions to get certain items to do other missions to get certain items etc etc and waiting forever for certain missions to become available to get certain items. | ||||||||||||

Inventory | The gameplay is pretty much identical to the first one which isn't a bad thing, if it isn't broke then don't fix it. But this game is alot more simple to figure out to a person who is trying the series for the first time, better tutorials, a more simple law system and basically just better guidance on what you should be doing. Similar to the FFTA its not very story driven and focuses on character customisation which keeps you going back to the game. To sum it up, if you like the first one and have completed it fully then this is well worth buying to give you your FFT fix. I wouldn't say its better or worse than the GBA game.

I'm buying FFTA2 because I've beaten both the original PSX FFT and FFTA for the GBA. I'm considering getting the PSP port of FFT: War of the Lions once I've bought a PSP because I want one of my characters to play as a Dark Knight. ![]()

Inventory | The Good- -Fun Gameplay, easy with a short learning curve. -Expansive Class system -5 Races -Lots of Quests to keep you occupied. -Over 100 hrs of Gameplay. -New Law System is easier on the player, you lose revival item usage and clan Privilege(A Clan Privilege is a advantage set from the beginning of match that affects all your units Ex.Counter-All your characters can counter attack) -Lots of abilities to get. The Bad- -Main character suffers from overly positive idiot brain damage. -Weak Story, doesn't make sense, character Development is lacking -Graphics and monsters are most recycled from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Revenant Wings -Really Annoying music, some is reused from FFTA -Weapons must be forged, Can't be bought until made with minerals which can be a pain finding -New Classes are hard to access because of weapons limit your ability which must be mastered to get new classes. -Storyline characters have little to nothing in terms of abilities that set them apart from generic units. -Sprites are same as FFTA, barely sharpened in 7 years -Everything(spell, abilities, classes) is dependent upon getting new equipment, heres the chain- Abilities-Requires Weapon/Armor Classes-Requires Abilities Materials-Requires Fighting Monsters. Different Material dropped randomly to an extent. -Only 8-14 hrs of actual story fights, its less than 20 missions long, instead of 40 or so like most games. -Most Quests suck, they have limited goals, most are just defeat all enemies. Overall-4.5/10 Question-Why Buy FFTA2? Your Answer-You Shouldn't, unless you really want more of the same from FFTA. FFTA2 suffer from numerous flaws that FFTA didn't have also. Inventory | Ok I may not be as objective as others may be or as well informed but I say it's not worth it. If you do have a PSP i would use that money to buy the playstation remake. The playstation version seemed a bit more mature and just the right amount of "Tactics". I didn't really play through the whole GBA version (hence why I am not fully informed) but it didn't seem enthralling or possibly sophisticated enough. Also I may be biased because in my eyes DS is a big failure as the second screen rarely does anything truly useful, most of the times its just a map or god forbid a way to do moves (I mean moves like jumping or moving or just selecting moves, nothing that has any specific advantage cept in games like trauma center) To re-interate Save your money for a much better game like the PSP remake of the good final fantasy tactics or a game on some other useful system.

Inventory | I'm playing Final Fantasy Tattics A2 in this period and I like it very much even if I noticed that is very simile to the Tattics Advance for the battle system. When I started playing it I thought that the battle system was a bit different...maybe with some innovation. ![]() About the plot I can say that I prefer the Advance chapter. This story is more superficial... But as I liked the previous chapter I like this one. I love the adventure divided into missions(and they're not all easy!) and in A2 there's the auction too!!!*_* I love the auction system. Your clan bet on a territory and takes advantages from lands you won! And in the plot Penelo and Vaan(from FFXII)appear too!*_* Another FF symbol present in this chapter is Cid, who helps the protagonist till the beginning. So I recommend it!^_^
