| Final Fantasy Tactics Series Final Fantasy Tactics is a magnificent strategy RPG, talk about the game here. In addition, talk about the new Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced for GBA or any of its sequels. |

i think it might be better to play tactics than tactics advance and then final fantasy XII they follow a story line set in ivalice they also follow around the lion war but the but the reason they were probaly less popular is beacause it was less rpg and more strategy. it it was more challeging and tactics advanced is more popular the fta because had laws,it was all basicly jobs, and had no real good storyline just marche meeting up with his friends in battle i liked it was a great game

FFTA also takes place in Ivalice, but in a dream world sense.
Anyways, I don't know why FFTA is less popular than FFT. FFTA is the only one i've ever played, and I never got bored of it. |

i think it is cause most people dont like to think alot about what they are going to do. alot of people want something simple over something hard and complicated. i personaly love tactics WOTL. Its something different then the normal ff experiances.
also i think the original fft was overshadowed by the giant FF7 cause they came out in the same year. that could have caused it to be less popular. but the people that loved it then, still love it now.

In my opinion, not a lot of people have played it because it's a spinoff. As we all know by a majority of the gaming population, a lot of them suck. So that label is automatically put on it by some modern-day gamers due to the time it was made and the graphics, not to mention the factor that some PS1 games like this are hard to come by sometimes. Despite the look of the game, it's absolutely wonderful and worth buying.

FFT was the first Final Fantasy game I played. It's my favorite one in the series besides FF8. I can see why it doesn't get as much publicity as the others, however. FF7-FF12 has lots of fanart.. fanart of? Fanart of yaoi or yuri couples that would never happen in the games. FFT lacks it(I've only seen Ramza x Agrias fanart). And in my opinion, that's good, cause I don't have to put up with all the annoying fantasies of those stupid fanartists. Plus, not a lot of people are fans of chess or tactic/strategy games.

It's an older game on the Playstation 1. You can always buy it online and play it on your PS2, though. They have a Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced for the Gameboy Advanced.. as well as a newer Final Fantasy Tactics on the PSP. Hope that answers everything.

I can't judge as I've only played FFTA, I think tactics is less popular because of the way the job system works, it makes more sense to have Race exclusive jobes than Gender exclusive IMOH.

i like the fft games allot but like people are saying the game gets really slow after the story line ends for example getting all 300 missons done is tedious and time consuming but it is truely a fun game and im glad i spent the fifteen dollars to get it its lots 'o' fun trust

It's probably one of two things IMO:
First, like people have mentioned there isn't quite so much character development for a variety of characters. Since you have a larger team and characters have the possibility to die permanently it's harder for characters to get a chance to develop. For some people this does take away slightly from its popularity because peoples favorite characters don't get enough spotlight or fade away when they become more then just a guest. Another thing is that a lot of gamers (not so much FF players) have a real problem with strategy or heavy story sections between battles. These games do at some points require a lot of well thought out plans to get through without a loss of a character or something. Lots of casual gamers (especially some FPS players) can't comprehend the "complexity" or strategy involved in such a game. So people who are used to "heres a gun, shoot at them" games would give Tactics series almost no consideration after having to read a couple of paragraphs of story set-up. I have tried to introduce a few of these people to FF games and they just barely pay attention to the less story heavy ones without whining about "when do I get to play" or "Just tell me what this is..." (which is really annoying) Therefore these games almost stumble from the start because they seem to be only for patient gamers and I don't think theres very much of those... I love these types of games but even FE: Radiant Dawn started getting to hard for me when one wrong move destroyed a character...

I think the vast majority of players that have actually played Tactics are fans. The one thing that can turn players off is the fact that it's level grinding-heavy and the fact that it's an SRPG can also throw off the regular FF fan that may not be as familiar with the genre. That along with the intricate Job Class System can add up to be be quite a bit of a learning curve. SRPGs in general just aren't going to be automatically liked by RPG fans. It's a sub-genre that's really a completely different beast and requires a different gaming mind-set, really.
FFTA, on the other hand, I think gets a lot of undeserved crap for it's kiddie atmosphere & the fact that it was such a departure gameplay-wise from FFT that it got a lot of backlash from the diehard FFT fans who really wanted FFT2 and thought that's what they'd get with FFTA...
