Start FFTA again

I could't help but feel a bit lost everytime I started up FFTA, as in remembering which skills I'd learnt, who needed a bit more attention, etc, to the point where I'd have been playing for 30min and I was still re-informing myself through the stats on who was where in the game (if you catch my drift). Anyway, this is all due to the lack of "Recommended Equipment" option that we all know and wish was there, but it's prompted me to throw away the 20hour+ game I had and 38 missions I'd completed to start the damn thing again.

I'm glad I did.

I've started again and told myself to only keep weapons that are useful at that time (as doing clan fights, there is an abundance of gil around). I'm also trying to vary the skills I aquire by (eventually) having one of each job class in my clan. So far so good, with 9hours on the clock and 10 missions done, it's started to work well, and I can remember the storyline. But wasn't that another problem with FFTA; the lack of a definite storyline like the previous FFT and forgetting what the game was about rather than just "fight, win, pub, fight, win, pub, etc."?

I'm perserveering this time and promising to keep in touch with the story and on top of my skilling up. Anyone else have this problem with the game?

the story in FFTA was kinda...odd..
Spoiler:
at first you start off just doing nothing, then you try to find your brother, then you want to get those crystal things, then you want to get to the emporer dude...and then you have to fight the rain-drop lady (my memory of this game isnt that well)

so i would say i did have a little trouble staying with the story line....

-sigh-. Nope. I had no problems with the storyline at all. Ever.

The game starts off in real life where Marche had just entered the school. People were picking on him a bit. And they were also picking on Mewt. To which Marche defended Mewt from rocks. Ritz scolded the people, etc etc.

Then they come across some ancient book. Marche decided to give the book to his brother. They all went over to his house to read it. Then the next thing they know, they were whisked away to the world of Ivalice.

Marche then met up with Montblanc. Montblanc showed Marche around and they created a Clan together and fought against other clans, doing missions and stuff. Then they ran into Ritz. And his brother soon thereafter. Ritz became their ally sometime down the road and they sometimes do missions together.

Their brother is off trying to destroy the crystals. Which will cause the world of Ivalice to crumble and them return to their real life. Mewt is the prince of Ivalice and the creator of the world. Whom is controlled by your so-called "water drop lady". She put him under the illusion that she was his deceased mother.

Well.. I think you get the idea.

i actually finally just started playing this game and have found it to be quite enjoyable. i think the story is cool too - the fact that they all enter the final fantasy world and actually recognize it as "the game, Final Fantasy!" and those moogles are just too cute kupo!

also, after seeing and reading so much about FFXII, FFTA almost seems like a prequel to it. all of the races in FFTA i've seen in one form or another in trailers for FFXII, they both take place in Ivalice, and both sport those terrifying judges. so right now i think is the absolute best time to get into or get back into this game.

i understand what you mean about starting over though - if i leave a save file for a long time, especially in an RPG, i find it real hard to come back and pick up the pieces.

Well, first of all, that "water drop" lady's name is Queen Remedi.

And I started FFTA again a few days ago. Now this time, I want to have all the hidden and not-so-hidden characters in my party. That means that I started it again, because of Judgemaster Cid. In my previous file, I was missing 19 missions, and I couldn't find the right items to complete them, eventhough I had been searching for a few months.

Now about the game.
The storyline wasn't that bad. So as a few members before me posted, the story begins in Ivalice, a small town, and blah blah.
Yeah, and then Marche finds Ritz, etc.

The only thing that I didn't really understood was why Ritz join Clan Nutsy. In the story she tries to stop Marche, but after you finish the game, she joins. So does Shara, Babus and Cid. Well, at least Cid, in the end of the game, helped Marche.

Anyway, wasn't my type of RPG, to tell the truth, but at least it was a good game.

I have had the same problem...usually I have to play it once a week or so, otherwise I forget about it...

So now I've promised myself no DS until I finish FFTA. That got me motivated!

... ok I gave up again. It's just too repetitive and gets boring. Tried giving it one last chance last night and got bored after 5minutes. It'll be on eBay soon if anyone fancies it!

The game is good but it does seem that the storyline takes a backseat to clanwars and missions. I think the story was a little weak anyways. Sucked in a magical world and all? I feel like I'm an 8 year old watching digimon while I play it.

The odd thing is that it doesn't really matter. The gameplay is solid enough for me to continue playing it. Yet, I too had to start a new game file. I still have one that is 80+ hours in with 230 or so missions complete. When I load that file up I am so confused as to what all my best stats and weapons are that I just give up.

*Extra weird question* They reference the computer game "Final Fantasy" and mention Bangaas are in it...Isn't this the only FF (XII excluded) to have Bangaa?
