Eh... I'm not sure it's really necessary to have a FFTA Discussion Only thread... maybe this could just be something like "What's your favorite job in FFTA?" But whatever...

I don't really have any one favorite job. It really depends on the situation and what mood I'm in. I find Black Mages to be pretty boring, summoners to be almost as much, and Assassins (despite their uber-awesomeness) make battles too easy. Red Mages are sorta cool, but once they get Doublecast they're too powerful. I suppose I could just not use that...

I'd have to (at least right now) put in a word for Templars. They seem to be one of the more interesting classes, being a powerhouse that's almost impossible to take down physically (and when you try, you wind up getting Bonecrushed), yet they're clearly built to take on mages. Silence, Rasp, and Soul Sphere (honestly, what is up with that? How many ways to destroy someone's MP do they really need?) are all anti-mage weapons (although the latter works well against enemy Templars due to their low MP, and also can even be used versus Assassins if you can get the timing down). They have Haste, allowing them to move quickly across the map to get to their target, and Tremor to push enemy heavyweights out of the way. They even have Lifebreak which combines with their insane WDef, their WDef+ support ability, and Bonecrusher to make them almost impossible to kill without dying first yourself. Go them.

EDIT: Formatting issues fixed. My editor is still borked though.

First Ivalice, please do not double post. That may get the mods angry. Next time, use the edit button to add something, or wait until someone else posts and you sum up an answer, plus the thing you wanted to say.

That said and done...I do not have a particular class in general, since there's little way to determine the general effectiveness of all classes. I tend to incline towards the Bangaa race in general, because their amount of jobs make for many interesting combinations, and mixing between jobs give better results than with other races. But class-wise, I incline for the Fighter. All of the Fighter's moves are purely offensive, and serve perfectly as a primary or secondary A-ability. Besides, the boost in ATK works well with every skill in the list. And, it has Strikeback, IMO the most effective R-ability in game. The Fighter has a wide variety of skills geared towards many conditions: either medium range, target area, elemental attacks, pure physical attacks or aimed attacks.
